The World Council of Churches is seeking a Director of the Commission on World Mission and Evangelism to lead, inspire and coordinate transformative ecumenical mission work towards visible Christian unity.
This is a unique opportunity to give leadership to mission and evangelism, help churches dialogue on their understanding and practices of mission, and inspire theological reflection across the global ecumenical movement.
📍 Location: Geneva
📅 Starting date: 1 May 2026
📝 Contract: 4 years, renewable
⏰ Application deadline: 31 January 2026
Key responsibilities include:
▪️Leading the Commission on World Mission and Evangelism (CWME)
▪️Developing networks with member churches and mission bodies worldwide
▪️Editing the International Review of Mission
▪️Promoting ecumenical understanding and training in mission and evangelism
Qualifications:
▪️Higher university degree in Theology (PhD in Missiology an advantage)
▪️Minimum 5 years' experience in project management in an international, ecumenical or church-related environment
▪️Excellent command of written and spoken English
▪️Sensitivity to multicultural and ecumenical settings
