Taiwan is famous for its convenience stores, but there is another feature that defines the country’s landscape: temples.
Around 12,000 registered temples are spread across Taiwan, including more than 9,000 Taoist temples and thousands of Buddhist temples. In addition, countless small shrines can be found in neighborhoods, villages, forests, and mountains.
