Bible Reading Plan 2023
- You can read the whole Bible in one year.
- You read 6 days a week. On Sunday you may reflect on the scripture from the sermon.
- 4 sections: Old Testament, New Testament, Psalm and Proverbs.

Why are Psalm and Proverbs separated? This is the idea. You may set up 2 short breaks in your working hour, between your activities. For example, you read Psalm at 10 AM, and Proverbs at 3 PM. You can do this within 1 minutes. This helps you to connect with God all day long. Sounds great, right?

How great is God’s power for believers? First, we can see God's great power in resurrection. The resurrection of Christ shows our justification (Rom 4:25). When we believe in Jesus Christ, we can receive this power of resurrection. By this power, we can be set free from sin and have victory over sin (1 Cor 15:56-57). Secondly, we can see God's great power in Christ’s sovereignty. When we believe in Christ, we receive the liberation by Christ’s sovereignty.

Paul didn’t give in to the temptation. Instead, he continued to give thanks to God for one thing. That was how the church in Ephesus was doing. In prison with chains, whenever he thought about the Ephesian church, his heart was filled with thanks-giving. And he was encouraged, comforted and strengthened by knowing what was happening in the church in Ephesus. The church was still advancing, growing in faith and love. This fact encouraged and supported Paul.

The seal of the Holy Spirit reminds us that we are chosen, called, and commissioned by Christ. This seal gives us a great sense of security: I truly belong to Him, a sense of assurance: I am the real child of God, and a sense of confidence: I am precious to Him. So then, we choose to trust Him, we happily surrender ourselves to Him as we belong to Him. That's the life of worship.

What is the mystery of God? "This mystery is Christ in you, the hope of glory" (Col 1:27). We were by birth the objects of God’s wrath. But we were saved by God’s grace. Not only that, but Jesus also lives in us. That is the riches of His grace poured into us and is now overflowing from us. It is so rich that we humans cannot contain it all within us.

We praise the grace of God. That is our choice. No matter how weak we ourselves may be, no matter how hard and full of problems our circumstances may be, no matter how hopeless we may feel in persecutions and struggles of faith, our God reminds us how reliable, great and mighty He is. As we praise Him, we will come to understand how real God is and how He is so close to us. As we praise Him, our faith will be deepened, strengthened, renewed, and made living and active.

If we move forward by the Word, we don’t lose sight of our purpose. We can fulfill our call. If we move forward by the Holy Spirit, we can run this race to the end, even though we may face difficulties. It is because the Holy Spirit knows the difficulties we face, and he is right there with us in hardships.

The church in Ephesus became the strategic center of Paul’s ministries, particularly in Asia (Acts 20:17-18, 25, 31). His ministries were not just done by himself alone. Actually, many of his disciples carried the mission together. And they were connected with one another, and churches were formed in many parts of Asia. “Paul and Barnabas appointed elders for them in each church” (Acts 14:23). And Paul gave the same job to the following generation (Titus 1:5).

This Ethiopian eu**ch traveled from Ethiopia to Jerusalem to worship (Acts 8:27). The distance is about 1,500miles, 2,500km in a straight line. It is about the distance from Ho Chi Minh City to Calcutta, or Paris to Moscow, or Seattle to Oklahoma City. I hope you can feel how far it is.
And it wasn’t just far. It could also be a dangerous journey. There weren’t any ATM machines or credit cards in those days. In his chariot, he probably had money and goods that would cover the cost of about half-a-year journey. He could fall victim to robbers. He knew the risk, but he still went on a journey. We can feel his passion for worship.

Even while we are in darkness, there is light. Beyond the darkness, there is light. The Word of God tells us this. Darkness covers the world. And we do have a question, “Why is this happening?” We also have a disbelief, “This cannot happen.” Our hearts are closed, and we shut ourselves up in fear. But Jesus indeed rose from the dead. God indeed lives and works, and He brought light to us, who are in the midst of darkness. Darkness covers the world. But Jesus Christ is risen. The morning of hope has come. God leads us from fear to joy. God opens our hearts so that we can believe this truth and be filled with joy.
