Madagascar est une grande île située dans l'Océan Indien. Nous avons posé nos valises dans cette magnifique île il y a plus de 30 ans.
Au delà des études de géologie qui ont amené Gilles Mannequin, le gérant de Madagascar Treasures, à y construire sa vie sur le plan professionnel, ce pays est aussi l'endroit où ses enfants sont nés et ont grandi. La société est ainsi devenue une entreprise familiale où chacun participe au bon développement en apportant ses idées.
Depuis quelques années nous avons pris la décision d'aider à notre manière notre pays d'adoption. Nous avons décidé, suite à la vente de bois fossile et aux feux de brousse réguliers dans le pays, d'aider les habitants ainsi que l'écosystème unique malgache grâce au reboisement.
C'est ainsi que Sœur Clarisse, qui est à la tête d'un orphelinat qui donne un avenir meilleur aux jeunes malgaches défavorisés, nous a ouvert ses portes pour qu'ensemble nous mettions en œuvre notre projet de reboisement, qui lui tenait tout autant à cœur. Aujourd'hui l'orphelinat a pris un grand tournant, suite à l'ouverture d'une école, à la plantation d'arbres utiles au quotidien et à la construction d'un puits pour subvenir aux besoins primaires des enfants ainsi qu'à l'arrosage des jeunes pousses.
D'autres projets sont en cours de réflexion et nous espérons qu'ils verront le jour, notamment grâce au pourcentage prélevé sur la vente de pièces en bois fossile, afin d'aider d'autres personnes dans le besoin qui pourront vivre des plantations sur leurs terres.

The country of Madagascar is the fourth largest island in the world and it is located in the Indian Ocean. We settled there more than 30 years ago.
Beyond his studies as a geologist which led Gilles Mannequin, the founder and manager of Madagascar Treasures, to build his professional life there, this country is also the birthplace of his children and where they grew up. The company thus became a family business with every member being involved in its healthy growth by pitching new ideas.
We decided some years ago to help in our own way our adoptive country. Thanks to the sales of pieces made of petrified wood and because of the many bushfires happening every year across the country, we wanted to help the people as long as the unique Malagasy ecosystem by reforesting.
That is how Sister Clarisse, who manages an orphanage that gives a brighter future to many young and poor Malagasy children, agreed to work with us to start the reforestation project together. Today the orphanage has grown considerably by opening a school, by planting trees that are useful in everyday life and by building a well much needed for the children's basic needs and for watering the new trees.
Many new projects are taken into consideration at the moment and we hope that they will come true in the near future, especially thanks to the percentage of money taken from the sales of pieces made of petrified wood, to help more people in need, who will then be able to live from the different plantations on their lands.
