The Light Has Already Come
Before you can shine, you must first see that the Light has already arrived.
“Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.”
Isaiah 60:1 (NKJV)
The greatest mistake a believer can make is to believe they must create their own light. God does not command you to manufacture glory He commands you to arise because the Light has already come. Jesus Christ is the Light of the world, and when you received Him, that Light entered you. The darkness around you is real, but it is not permanent. The Light in you is greater than the darkness around you. Your role is not to become the sun but to reflect the Son. You do not arise to create the light; you arise because the Light has already come.
Jesus said, “I am the light of the world” (John 8:12). Light is not a force you connect to it is a Person in whom you abide. Your relationship with Christ is the source of your radiance. Without Him, you have nothing to shine.
Isaiah acknowledges that “darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people.” But notice the contrast: darkness is upon the peoples, but glory is upon you. Indeed, you are not defined by the darkness around you; you are defined by the glory within you.
God does not say, “Become light.” He says, “Arise, for your light has come.” The work has already been accomplished. Your response is to arise and let what is already true become visible.
Think of a room that has been dark for hours. When someone flips the switch, the light does not struggle to fill the room it simply appears. The furniture does not need to be rearranged. The walls do not need to be repainted. The light does the work. In the same way, when Christ, the Light, entered your life, He did not wait for you to become worthy. He simply entered, and His presence began to transform everything.
Today
Take five minutes to sit in silence and acknowledge that the Light has already entered your life. Thank Jesus that you do not need to earn His presence you simply need to receive it and arise.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You that I do not have to create my own light. You are the Light of the world, and You dwell in me. Forgive me for the times I have struggled to shine by my own strength. Today I choose to arise not because I am strong, but because Your Light has already come. Help me rest in what You have already accomplished. Amen.
