Parish of St Saviour's in the Northern Archdeaconry of the Diocese of Lesotho, commemorated the Season Of Creation boldly through a tree- planting initiative. Led by the Parish' Green Anglicans coordinator, Miss Nteboheleng Aujane, the Youth of St.Saviours as well as the Parish's First Communicants preceded this activity and protecting Mother Nature by adding 50 Eucalyptus tress to Creation ๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒฒ. Not only was this a response to land conservation, but also a symbol and call to the First Communicants to let their faith deepen as strong as the roots of a tree, and let their service to the church be as wide as it's branches.๐ŸŒ

Concern Over Ha Ts'osane Dumpsite: A Call for Environmental Justice and Spiritual Solidarity

The persistent presence of the Ha Ts'osane dumpsite continues to threaten the communities of Ha Ts'osane, Tsโ€™enola, and Motimposo. Now, with the site actively burning, the danger has intensified. Thick, toxic smoke fills the air, endangering the health of nearby residents particularly the elderly, asthma patients, and congregants of St. Andrewโ€™s Tsโ€™enola. The stench, ash, and airborne chemicals create a daily crisis for those forced to breathe it in.

This is not just a local concern. As Professor Mosotho George has stated, "We've shown that harmful chemicals from plastics are not just a global story, they are already here, right under our feet in Maseru." The reality is that this environmental hazard is a silent killer. It affects not only the earth, but also the lungs, the dignity, and the faith of those living in its shadow.

In response, local churches united in a prayer vigil march last year among the religious leaders Rev Fr Maseru Mongalo was present, raising a collective plea for divine intervention and governmental accountability. As Green Anglicans in the Diocese of Lesotho, we see this as a call to action not just spiritually, but socially and ecologically.

We are stewards of creation and must not allow this injustice to go unchallenged. The people of these communities deserve better: clean air, safe streets, and the assurance that their well-being matters. Our hope is that our voices will stir hearts, awaken action, and bring lasting change.

๐ŸŒฟ Green Anglican Meeting Highlights Community Clean-Up ๐ŸŒฟ

We recently held a productive meeting with our Green Anglican team, where we discussed our plans for the upcoming year and gathered valuable input from each parish regarding their environmental needs. It was inspiring to hear everyone's ideas and commitments to making a positive impact in our communities!

In addition to our planning session, we took action by organizing a clean-up at St. James High School. We tackled an unattended dump area behind the classrooms, transforming it into a cleaner, safer space for students and staff. This initiative not only beautified the school grounds but also motivated our coordinators and participants to stay engaged in environmental stewardship.

Together, we are making strides towards a greener future! Letโ€™s continue to work hand-in-hand to care for our planet and inspire others to join us on this important journey. ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ’š

๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ™ Our hearts are filled with joy as we share this wonderful initiative from the cathedral of St Mary and St James on Sunday the 29th of September! โœจ๐Ÿ’š The Sunday School teachers invited Green Anglicans to mark the season with a special event for the children.

We had the opportunity to present the kids with insights about the Green Anglicans initiative, spreading awareness of the importance of caring for our environment and being good stewards of God's creation. ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒฑ To wrap up the presentation, we all joined in a Green Anglicans sing-along, uniting our voices in harmony and celebration of nature.

Thank you to the cathedral of St Mary and St James for including us in this meaningful gathering. Let's continue to nurture our planet and inspire future generations to protect and cherish the world around us. Together, we can make a difference! ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ’™

We are so inspired by the members of St Mary Magdalene in the parish of St Andrews Tshenola who planted a tree to mark the season of creation. What a beautiful way to honor God's creation and show our commitment to caring for our planet. Let's all continue to find ways to be good stewards of the Earth. ๐ŸŒฟ ๐Ÿ’š

Mary Magdalena St. Stephen Parish Celebrates Growth with Tree Planting Ceremony
In a heartfelt gesture of gratitude and community spirit, the Mary Magdalena St. Stephen Parish recently held a tree planting ceremony to commemorate the growth and flourishing of their parish guild. This event not only symbolizes the strength and unity of the congregation but also serves as a lasting reminder of their commitment to nurturing both their faith and community.

The ceremony took place on the 14th September 2024 with parishioners gathering in the church grounds to witness this meaningful occasion.

Rev Phosoli , opened the ceremony with a prayer, emphasizing the importance of growthโ€”both spiritual and communal.

Following the prayer, members of the parish guild took turns adding soil around the newly planted tree, each shovelful representing their dedication to fostering a nurturing environment within the parish. The event was filled with laughter, as attendees shared their hopes for the future of their community.

The tree planting ceremony is part of a larger initiative by the Mary Magdalena St. Stephen Parish to engage its members in meaningful activities that promote fellowship and environmental stewardship.

The Mary Magdalena St. Stephen Parish looks forward to continuing its mission of growth and service, with plans for future events that will further engage and inspire its members.

๐ŸŒด๐ŸŒฑIn a world where the impacts of climate change are becoming increasingly evident, the youth of today hold the power to drive positive change for our environment and our communities. At Green Anglican Lesotho, a recent gathering at Good Shepherd ha makhoathi saw a group of passionate individuals come together to discuss the effects of climate change on our surroundings. One of the key topics of discussion was the role of social media in advocating for environmental causes and engaging with a wider audience. In this digital age, the youth have a unique opportunity to leverage social media platforms to raise awareness, inspire action, and amplify their voices for the betterment of both the environment and the church. Let's explore how we can harness the power of social media to make a difference for our planet and our faith community. Anglican Lesotho
