Equipping History Makers: Church Leaders Gathered in Zwedru for Transformational Leadership TrainingChurch leaders from southeastern Liberia recently gathered in Zwedru for a week long transformative leadership conference designed to strengthen pastoral capacity and advance the mission of the church across the region.
The History Makers Journey Conference, organized by the International Leadership Institute in partnership with the Grain Coast Annual Conference, brought together pastors for intensive training focused on building spiritually grounded and mission driven leadership.
The training brought together 30 pastors from two counties, including participants from the River Gee Circuit, the Mt. Gedeh Circuit, and pastors affiliated with the Grand Gedeh Christian Council. The gathering provided a collaborative platform for church leaders to reflect, learn, and develop practical strategies for effective ministry in their communities.
At the center of the conference was the teaching of the eight core values that define the leadership philosophy of the International Leadership Institute. These values are designed to shape leaders who can influence both the church and society with integrity and vision. They include Intimacy with God, Passion for the Harvest, Visionary Leadership, Culturally Relevant Evangelism, Multiplication of Leaders, Family Priority, Faithful Stewardship, and Integrity.
Serving as the lead facilitator for the training, Rev. Dr. Jerry P. Kulah emphasized the importance of leadership that flows from a deep relationship with God and a clear commitment to raising future leaders.“The church must intentionally develop leaders who are rooted in Christ and committed to multiplying themselves in others. When pastors embrace these core values, they not only strengthen their own ministries but also help build a sustainable movement that advances the kingdom of God across communities,” Dr. Kulah said.
Through interactive sessions, discussions, and reflections, participants explored how these principles can guide their ministries and strengthen the effectiveness of local churches throughout southeastern Liberia. The conference also served as an opportunity to foster unity among pastors from different circuits and denominations, reinforcing a shared commitment to evangelism, discipleship, and community transformation.
As the training concluded, participants departed empowered with renewed vision and practical tools to lead their congregations faithfully while raising the next generation of Christian leaders. The initiative reflects a growing commitment within the Grain Coast Annual Conference to invest in leadership development as a foundation for sustainable church growth and kingdom advancement.
