Do you know why we recite ATTA'HIYYAAT, in every Salah?

Attahiyyaat is a very important 'Dua' we repeat it in our daily prayers.
When I came to know the background, it actually melted my heart.

Attahiyat is actually a part of a conversation between Our Creator Allah SWT and our beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) during his journey of Al Isra Wal Miraj.

When Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) met Allah SWT, he didn't say 'Assalam aleikum'.
What is someone going to say when he meets Allah SWT ?
We can't wish HIM peace because ALL sources of peace are through HIM.

So Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said:

"Attahiyyaatu Lillahi Was Salawatu Wattayyibatu"

(All compliments, all prayer and worship are for Allah)

Allah replied:
"Assalamu Alaika Ayyuhannabiyyu 'Warahmatullahi Wabarka'tuhu"

(Peace be upon you, Oh Prophet and Allah's Mercy and Blessings).

To this, Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) replied:
"Assalamu Alaina Wa'ala'Ibadillahis Saa'liheen"

(Peace be on us and on all good slaves of Allah)

Note*
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) included "us" in his reply...
(and on all good slaves of Allah)

And listening to this conversation between Allah and His Messenger (pbuh), the Angels said:
"Ash'had'u'un La ilahaillallahu Wa Ash'hadu Anna Muhammadun Abd'uhu Wa Rasooluh"

(I bear witness that no one is worthy of worship except Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger).

Subhan Allah!
I now know the background of this conversation and its importance in our daily prayers and how the Salat was prescribed to us.

Dear Opeoluwa,

Thank you for your feedback. First of all, understand that I am not a Muslim. Therefore, none of what I am writing to you should be taken to mean that I am speaking for Islam. These are just my own thoughts acquired from decades of studying Islam. For a more accurate answer, from an Islamic perspective, please reach out to an Ustaz, Imam, al-faqīh (what we mistakenly call Alfa in Nigeria), or Sheikh.

There are no historically and scientifically accurate records of how old Umm Aisha was when she married prophet Muhammad, Sallallahu Alayhi Wasalaam. However, please do note the following:

In those days, it was customary to betroth girls to men when they were young, and the marriage would be consummated when the girls came of age.

This is still happening in the Middle East and North Africa today, as well as in Northern Nigeria. For example, and you may want to fact-check this, more than 50% of women in Northern Nigeria marry before the age of 18.

Let me give you a biblical instance, since you are likely a Christian. Opeoluwa, how old do you think Mariam (Mary) was when she was betrothed to Joseph? She was believed to be between the ages of 10 and 12. How do we know this? Jewish Hebrew girls of that era typically married after their Bat Mitzvah, a ceremony declaring that they were now women.

Bat Mitzvahs are celebrated when a Jewish girl hits the age of 13. It was believed that Maryam was 14 when she gave birth to Yeshua.

King David married Abishag, who was believed to be between 12-15, when he was in his late sixties-1 Kings 1:3.

And God Himself designed it that way, which is why a girl starts to menstruate at the age of 12-13. Menstruation is a natural monthly cycle confirming that a girl is physically capable of having children. Are you now going to question God?

To put things into perspective, this same Umm Aisha was the author, by narration, of over 2000 Hadiths. In none of those Hadiths did she testify that she was underaged when she married the prophet of Islam.

The challenge for many of those who may want to castigate the marriage between Umm Aisha and the prophet of Islam is that they use modern trends to judge things that occurred over a thousand years ago.

This world is evolving, and customs and cultures change with it. However, we must be careful when using today's value systems to judge events from different eras.

A Strange True Story 😢😭

Recently in America, a Chinese woman left her husband because he abandoned Islam. He took their son and daughter with him to live in the United States. The woman had to return to China, staying steadfast in her faith, even if it meant being separated from her husband and children forever.

After many years, her daughter contacted her and asked her to visit them in the United States, in Oklahoma. The mother agreed and decided to visit.

As soon as she arrived at the airport, she looked up the nearest mosque or Islamic center to her daughter's residence and told her daughter, “If anything happens to me, contact these people.”

The daughter asked, “Who are these people?”
The mother replied, “They are my brothers.”

The Chinese woman did not know the mosque, who ran it, or the ethnicities and nationalities of its attendees, but she knew that everyone in the mosque would consider her a sister as long as she remained a Muslim, because this is Islam.

The daughter did not pay much attention to what her mother said. But three days later, the mother passed away. The daughter remembered her mother's words and called the Islamic center.

Imagine this: the Muslims in the area owned an Islamic cemetery. They had been struggling to obtain a license to use it for the burial of Muslims for five years and had just recently received official approval to use the cemetery.

As soon as the mosque administration received the cemetery's licensing, they got a call from a girl informing them that her mother, a Muslim Chinese woman, had told her before her death to contact them if anything happened. The mosque's imam asked to meet the girl and informed her that the first grave in the cemetery would be for her mother.

The funeral prayer was held after the Friday prayer, and the mosque was packed, unusually so. Because it was the first time they were using the cemetery, a large crowd attended the funeral procession. To her family, it appeared as though their mother was a public figure known by everyone.

The family was stunned by the number of people praying for her, the nature of the funeral, and the respect shown for her passing by people who had never known her. They asked, “Who are all these people attending her funeral?” The answer was, “They are her brothers.” The family began to cry.

After the burial, they brought the imam a piece of paper on which she had written her favorite prayer in Arabic. Her son, daughter, and former husband insisted on knowing what it said. The imam told them, “She wrote, ‘O Allah, guide my children. O Allah, guide my children.’”

The former husband then said to the mosque imam, “Reserve the grave next to hers for me.”
The imam replied, “Its price is: ‘There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.’”
The man said, “I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.”

That very night, her son also said the Shahada and entered Islam. 😢😢😭

We ask Allah to forgive her and have mercy on her. 🤲🏻
