A Weekend of Glory and Dedication
The Territorial Headquarters in Sinkor, Monrovia, was ablaze with joy and holy purpose as The Salvation Army celebrated the Ordination, Commissioning, and Appointment of the Champions of the Mission Session. From September 16–21, 2025, the Territory witnessed a sacred outpouring of praise, commitment, and fellowship.
Following two years of Spirit-filled, mission-driven training at the Officers Training College, 14 cadets comprising 6 couples and 2 singles were graciously commissioned as Lieutenants of The Salvation Army. The Rooftop Hall overflowed with active and retired officers, soldiers, adherents, family members, and friends, all gathered to witness this holy milestone.
The activities commenced with the Covenant Service on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, led by the Chief Secretary, Major Dieudonné Louzolo, with the Territorial Commander, Lieutenant-Colonel Luka Khayumbi, delivering a stirring charge. Cadets solemnly bound themselves to the Lord, pledging to uphold the doctrines and principles of The Salvation Army and to dedicate their lives to His service.
On Saturday, the Silver Star Fellowship Luncheon was held in honour of the faithful parents whose children have entered officership. Each parent received a certificate, formally recognizing them as members of the Fellowship of the Silver Star, a global community of support and legacy.
28 new members were joyfully welcomed into the Fellowship from across the Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea Territory. The ceremony was led by Territorial Secretary for Women’s Ministries, Major Edith Louzolo, and addressed by Lt. Colonel Rasoa Khayumbi, Territorial President of Women’s Ministries.
The evening Praise Meeting was a vibrant celebration of worship and thanksgiving, lifting hearts in joyful adoration for the Lord’s faithfulness.
Sunday morning unfolded with reverence and calm as Lt. Colonel Luka Khayumbi delivered a powerful message from 1 Corinthians 9:23–27, themed: “Run with a Purpose to Win.” Through vivid illustrations, he reminded the Champions of the Mission Session that obstacles abound, but victory is assured when the focus remains on Christ rather than worldly distractions.
The morning culminated in a sacred moment of Ordination and Commissioning, as the new Lieutenants were blessed and sent forth in the strength of the Lord.
The afternoon brought a surge of joy and unity, with hundreds gathering to witness the official appointments. Lt. Colonel Rasoa Khayumbi delivered a thrilling charge from Joshua 1:1–9, urging the new Lieutenants to “Be strong and courageous.” The atmosphere was electric with celebration, pride, and renewed commitment to the mission.
In the spirit of sharing and appreciation, retired officers were graciously gifted with bags of rice and gallons of cooking oil — a heartfelt initiative led by the Territorial Commander. This act of kindness was made possible through an appeal to active officers, inviting them to bless their retired colleagues in recognition of their faithful service.
All 15 retired officers received their gifts with deep gratitude and joy, a gesture that reaffirmed the enduring bond of fellowship and care within the Army family.
We rejoice in this sacred milestone and give thanks for the lives dedicated to service and purpose. May the new generation of officers go forth in the strength of the Lord, proclaiming His salvation and serving with compassion, courage, and conviction.
To God be the glory!
