Sermon Summary:

Text: Genesis 37
Theme: "Next Level"
Preacher: Rev. Charles R. H. Johnson, Pastor-in-charge, Cartwright AME Zion Church
Date: Sunday, August 9, 2026

On second Sunday, August 9, 2026, Rev. Charles R. H. Johnson, Pastor-in-charge of Cartwright AME Zion Church, centered his sermon on the theme "Next Level" from Genesis 37, emphasizing that God's plan for His people always supersedes human schemes, and that what looks like a setback is often a setup for divine promotion.

Rev. Johnson referenced Jeremiah 29:11 and proclaimed that God has a plan to prosper, not to harm, and to give an expected end. He further warned that man’s plan is not God’s plan, and the two are often in direct conflict.

Turning to the experience of Joseph, our Pastor-in-charge indicated how betrayal by his brothers, a pit, and slavery were not accidents but ordained steps in Joseph's journey to the next level. He stated that God sometimes allows believers to experience tribulation—not as punishment, but as preparation.

The sermon closed with a call to persevere through pain and trust God's timing as Rev. Johnson noted that Joseph's pit was not his permanent address, and neither are our current struggles. Though human plans may seek to bury us, he stressed that God's plan always brings us out—stronger, wiser, and ready for the next level.

Sermon Summary - (Video Highlight)

Text: – Mark 5:25-34
Preacher: Min. Lawrence G. Coleman
Cartwright AME Zion Church – 3rd Sunday, July 19, 2026

Our Associate Pastor, Minister Lawrence G. Coleman delivered a touching message from Mark 5:25-34 at the church edifice on the third Sunday of July 2026. His central theme was that "the possession is in the movement."

He explained that too many believers are waiting passively for God to deliver what He has already prepared. Using the woman with the issue of blood as an example, Minister Coleman showed that her healing did not come while she stood still.

It came when she pressed through the crowd and reached out to touch the hem of Jesus' garment. Her action activated her faith, and her movement resulted in her deliverance.
The minister urged the congregation to combine their prayers with purposeful action.

He called on them to pray and move at the same time, declaring that they must actively possess what belongs to them. He prophesied that the season of waiting was over and that God had already released their blessings. The only thing left was for them to step forward and take hold of what was rightfully theirs.

Minister Coleman closed by challenging every person in the sanctuary to stop hesitating and start moving. He reminded them that their breakthrough was not far off—it was within reach and required them to stretch out in faith.
