Topic: Civilization and Its CoโValues
1. Civilization Defined
Civilization is the organized development of human society โ culture, laws, technology, and values.
Hebrew root: ืขึดืืจ (สฟir) = city, symbol of organized life.
Greek root: ฯฮฟฮปฮนฯฮตฮฏฮฑ (politeia) = citizenship, community order.
CoโValues of Civilization
Civilization is not just buildings and systems; it rests on values that sustain it:
3. Biblical Perspective
Genesis 11:4 โ Tower of Babel shows human civilization without God leads to pride and confusion.
Psalm 127:1 โ โUnless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain.โ
Matthew 5โ7 โ Jesus sets kingdom values that should shape civilization.
SeniorโLevel Scenario
A respected elder in society has wealth and influence but lacks compassion. Civilization around him may look advanced, but without coโvalues, it collapses morally.
5. Practical Applications
Build communities on justice and truth, not corruption.
Promote compassion and service in leadership.
Teach the next generation that civilization without Godโs values is fragile.
