“A certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.”
Luke 11:27, 28
It is fondly imagined by some that it must have involved very special privileges to have been the mother of our Lord, because they supposed that she had the benefit of looking into his very heart in a way in which we cannot hope to do. There may be an appearance of plausibility in the supposition, but not much. We do not know that Mary knew more than others; what she did know she did well to lay up in her heart; but she does not appear from anything we read in the Evangelists to have been a better-instructed believer than any other of Christ’s disciples. All that she knew we also may discover. Do you wonder that we should say so? Here is a text to prove it: “The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him, and he will show them his covenant.” Remember the Master’s words—“Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his Lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.” So blessedly does this Divine Revealer of secrets tell us his heart, that he keepeth back nothing which is profitable to us; his own assurance is, “If it were not so, I would have told you.” Doth he not this day manifest himself unto us as he doth not unto the world? It is even so; and therefore we will not ignorantly cry out, “Blessed is the womb that bare thee,” but we will intelligently bless God that, having heard the Word and kept it, we have first of all as true a communion with the Saviour as the Virgin had, and in the second place as true an acquaintance with the secrets of his heart as she can be supposed to have obtained. Happy soul to be thus privileged!

Acts 13:39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.
The believer in Christ receives a present justification. Faith does not produce this fruit by-and-by, but now. So far as justification is the result of faith, it is given to the soul in the moment when it closes with Christ, and accepts him as its all in all. Are they who stand before the throne of God justified now?—so are we, as truly and as clearly justified as they who walk in white and sing melodious praises to celestial harps. The thief upon the cross was justified the moment that he turned the eye of faith to Jesus; and Paul, the aged, after years of service, was not more justified than was the thief with no service at all. We are today accepted in the Beloved, today absolved from sin, today acquitted at the bar of God. Oh! soul-transporting thought! There are some clusters of Eshcol’s vine which we shall not be able to gather till we enter heaven; but this is a bough which runneth over the wall. This is not as the corn of the land, which we can never eat till we cross the Jordan; but this is part of the manna in the wilderness, a portion of our daily nutriment with which God supplies us in our journeying to and fro. We are now—even now pardoned; even now are our sins put away; even now we stand in the sight of God accepted, as though we had never been guilty. “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.” There is not a sin in the Book of God, even now, against one of his people. Who dareth to lay anything to their charge? There is neither speck, nor spot, nor wrinkle, nor any such thing remaining upon any one believer in the matter of justification in the sight of the Judge of all the earth. Let present privilege awaken us to present duty, and now, while life lasts, let us spend and be spent for our sweet Lord Jesus.

“And he said, Thus saith the Lord, Make this valley full of ditches. For thus saith the Lord, Ye shall not see wind, neither shall ye see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, that ye may drink, both ye and your cattle, and your beasts.”
2 Kings 3:16,17
The armies of the three kings were famishing for want of water: God was about to send it, and in these words the prophet announced the coming blessing. Here was a case of human helplessness: not a drop of water could all the valiant men procure from the skies or find in the wells of earth. Thus often the people of the Lord are at their wits’ end; they see the vanity of the creature, and learn experimentally where their help is to be found. Still the people were to make a believing preparation for the divine blessing; they were to dig the trenches in which the precious liquid would be held. The church must by her varied agencies, efforts, and prayers, make herself ready to be blessed; she must make the pools, and the Lord will fill them. This must be done in faith, in the full assurance that the blessing is about to descend. By-and-by there was a singular bestowal of the needed boon. Not as in Elijah’s case did the shower pour from the clouds, but in a silent and mysterious manner the pools were filled. The Lord has his own sovereign modes of action: he is not tied to manner and time as we are, but doeth as he pleases among the sons of men. It is ours thankfully to receive from him, and not to dictate to him. We must also notice the remarkable abundance of the supply—there was enough for the need of all. And so it is in the gospel blessing; all the wants of the congregation and of the entire church shall be met by the divine power in answer to prayer; and above all this, victory shall be speedily given to the armies of the Lord.
What am I doing for Jesus? What trenches am I digging? O Lord, make me ready to receive the blessing which thou art so willing to bestow.

Behold, thou art fair, my beloved, yea, pleasant: also our bed is green.
Song of Solomon 1:16
From every point our Well-beloved is most fair. Our various experiences are meant by our heavenly Father to furnish fresh standpoints from which we may view the loveliness of Jesus; how amiable are our trials when they carry us aloft where we may gain clearer views of Jesus than ordinary life could afford us! We have seen him from the top of Amana, from the top of Shenir and Hermon, and he has shone upon us as the sun in his strength; but we have seen him also “from the lions’ dens, from the mountains of the leopards,” and he has lost none of his loveliness. From the languishing of a sick bed, from the borders of the grave, have we turned our eyes to our soul’s spouse, and he has never been otherwise than “all fair.” Many of his saints have looked upon him from the gloom of dungeons, and from the red flames of the stake, yet have they never uttered an ill word of him, but have died extolling his surpassing charms. Oh, noble and pleasant employment to be forever gazing at our sweet Lord Jesus! Is it not unspeakably delightful to view the Saviour in all his offices, and to perceive him matchless in each?—to shift the kaleidoscope, as it were, and to find fresh combinations of peerless graces? In the manger and in eternity, on the cross and on his throne, in the garden and in his kingdom, among thieves or in the midst of cherubim, he is everywhere “altogether lovely.” Examine carefully every little act of his life, and every trait of his character, and he is as lovely in the minute as in the majestic. Judge him as you will, you cannot censure; weigh him as you please, and he will not be found wanting. Eternity shall not discover the shadow of a spot in our Beloved, but rather, as ages revolve, his hidden glories shall shine forth with yet more inconceivable splendour, and his unutterable loveliness shall more and more ravish all celestial minds.

“I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love.”
Hosea 11:4
Our heavenly Father often draws us with the cords of love; but ah! how backward we are to run towards him! How slowly do we respond to his gentle impulses! He draws us to exercise a more simple faith in him; but we have not yet attained to Abraham’s confidence; we do not leave our worldly cares with God, but, like Martha, we cumber ourselves with much serving. Our meagre faith brings leanness into our souls; we do not open our mouths wide, though God has promised to fill them. Does he not this evening draw us to trust him? Can we not hear him say, “Come, my child, and trust me. The veil is rent; enter into my presence, and approach boldly to the throne of my grace. I am worthy of thy fullest confidence, cast thy cares on me. Shake thyself from the dust of thy cares, and put on thy beautiful garments of joy.” But, alas! though called with tones of love to the blessed exercise of this comforting grace, we will not come. At another time he draws us to closer communion with himself. We have been sitting on the doorstep of God’s house, and he bids us advance into the banqueting hall and sup with him, but we decline the honour. There are secret rooms not yet opened to us; Jesus invites us to enter them, but we hold back. Shame on our cold hearts! We are but poor lovers of our sweet Lord Jesus, not fit to be his servants, much less to be his brides, and yet he hath exalted us to be bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh, married to him by a glorious marriage-covenant. Herein is love! But it is love which takes no denial. If we obey not the gentle drawings of his love, he will send affliction to drive us into closer intimacy with himself. Have us nearer he will. What foolish children we are to refuse those bands of love, and so bring upon our backs that scourge of small cords, which Jesus knows how to use!

For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven. Mark 12:25 A question was posed by the Sadducees about a woman who married seven times because every husband she married died without giving her children. Finally the woman also died, and the question was, whose wife will she be after the resurrection? Jesus Christ, who knew what was prevailing in heaven, answered the Sadducees that in heaven there is no marriage. God, in His own wisdom, restricted marriage to the earth. This insightful knowledge will aid people to plan toward their marriage since they can only enjoy it here on Earth. Furthermore, the answer from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ silences all false doctrines in certain religions that beautiful women and men await them in paradise for marriage. Dear beloved, do you have a desire to marry? May your desire be fulfilled right here on Earth, amen.

A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Psalms 91:7 The mental picture painted by the opening scripture is how our enemies have been designed by God. They have been made to fall in their thousands at our side; they cannot come close to us. Therefore, there is no need, as a child of God, to fear the enemy. Besides the devil and his cohort of darkness, anything that seeks to oppose or seek our downfall is an enemy. All of these have been designed to fall flat before us. Jesus Christ emphasized this in Luke 10:19, where he said our enemies have been perpetually placed under our feet for us to trample over them and that nothing would hurt us. Let this consciousness be in you, and you will overcome all doubts and opposition in your life. Dear beloved, do you have opposition in your life? How do you seek to overcome these?

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. James 1:12 Jesus Christ is the greatest leader in heaven and on Earth. He has many rewards for Christians, even for enduring temptation. This might come as a surprise to some Christians, but it is true; the opening scripture clearly states it, and the Word of God cannot lie. Christians who are going through temptation should be encouraged by this scripture to bear it to the end so that they can receive the crown of life. Besides receiving the crown of life, Christians who undergo temptation to the end prove their love for Christ. Dear beloved, do you love Christ Jesus? The proof of your love will be tested through temptation, and you must endure it to the end to receive the crown of life.

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Ephesians 3:20
The Holy Spirit is in us and at work in us; we must be conscious of His working in us. He is the power at work in us. The question is what do we ask and how do we ask it? Another question is what do we think? If what you ask and how you ask are not approved by the Word of God, God will not do them; likewise if what you think is not sanctioned by the Word of God, God will not do it. This is simply because the power at work in us works hand in hand with God. Dear reader, is what you are asking God approved by Him? Is your thought the thought of God? If they are of God, then Jesus Christ will do abundantly above them. Hallelujah! MERRY CHRISTMAS

And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible. Mark 10:27
The big difference between man and God is demonstrated by the scripture above. Man has many limitations but God has none. This scripture is teaching us to go beyond our limitations and trust God to do the impossible in our life. For instance, it is impossible for a virgin to be pregnant without a man but God made it possible so Jesus could be born. All we need to do is to have faith in God for Him to do the impossible in our life. Dear reader, what are we believing God for? What you need is faith.

Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come! Luke 17:1
Jesus Christ noted that offences will come, but warns the one through whom it will come. He said the offender will be severely punished. This shows how much Jesus Christ loves His children; His children are so dear to Him that He does not want them to be offended. Offences could lead to pain, hatred, discouragement, shyness, bitterness, etc.; therefore the Lord Jesus does not want to entertain them. Likewise, the children of God do not have to entertain offences. We need to pray against it as much as possible so believers can live in peace, joy, and love.

"Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: John 11:25"

It is good news to hear that Jesus Christ is the resurrection, and the life. Jesus Christ is not the dead; He overcame death. In Christ Jesus, we cannot succumb to death; in fact anything that appears dead in our life can be made alive. Dear reader, choose life and cause everything in your life to ignite the resurrected life of Jesus Christ. God bless you.
