Wattala St. Anne's Parish is one of the most popular and leading parishes in the Archdiocese of Colombo. By grading the parishes in the Archdiocese, Wattala takes the 1st place and the payment of the 33% Archdiocesan levy depicts its status. The Parish compromises of more than 2,100 families. The present church and the parish hall buildings were built by the late Rev. Nicholas Perera about 60 year

s back. Due to non-regular maintenance and repairs of both buildings on regular basis, day by day they are in a dilapidated state. Viewing at the 150 Jubilee in this year 2021, all the parishioners have been motivated to do the needful through the co-operation of the Parish Pastoral Council. To cover all the necessary renovations and reconstructions to update the same, a Master Plan has been prepared and we are happy to announce that this was approved and blessed by the Most. Cardinal Malcolm Ranjtih - Archbishop of Colombo. To implement the proposed master plan, a number of fund raising projects have been initiated. Parallel to the material affairs, a spiritual programs have been implemented such as house visiting, conducting cottage masses, issuing new family books, electing new members for the Basic Christian Communities, reorganizing the Parish Pastoral Council, etc. We hope to conduct a two week's Big Mission for the whole parish prior to the Jubilee. Thank you for your continuous assistance in achieving this great goal in a successful manner. Wish you the blessings of St. Anne's. Gregory Jayantha

✨ May 1 – Feast of Saint Joseph the Worker ✨

“Work is a service to God”

Today we honor Saint Joseph, the humble carpenter and foster father of Jesus, who reminds us that every honest effort has dignity and purpose.

👷‍♂️ Let us celebrate all workers—
those who build, serve, protect, and care for our communities every day.

🙏 May God bless your work, guide your hands, and strengthen your faith.

Prayer
Saint Joseph,
teach us to work with love and humility.
Help us to be faithful in our duties
and serve others through our work.
Amen.

The Pope's last engagement in Angola was to the bishops, priests and the consecrated life in the church of Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Luanda.

Leo XIV encouraged permanent training to be consistent with the Gospel and not afraid to mirror the Lord's charity. Fidelity to Christ, especially in Angola, today is particularly linked to the announcement of peace, the Pontiff observed, without giving up "to denounce injustices": do not separate from the people, especially the poor, and avoid seeking privilege, the Pope also recommended.

Today, at 8:45 a.m., we pause to remember the lives lost in the 2019 Sri Lanka Easter Sunday bombings.
A moment that changed our nation forever — filled with pain, loss, and unanswered questions. Innocent lives were taken, families were broken, and a country stood still in grief.
Today is not just about remembering tragedy, but honoring the strength, unity, and resilience of our people. We remember the victims, we stand with their families, and we hold onto hope that such darkness will never return.
May those who lost their lives rest in peace.
May we never forget.
