1818 - The year marked the foundation stone of the parish; a devotee in Weragama, Wadduwa donated the land to the Catholic Church of Sri Lanka, which became the current premises of the
Church of Wadduwa. Hence forth the Church of Wadduwa was devoted to Our Mother Mary and considered as Saint Mary’s Church Wadduwa.
1883 – It is said that the Pentecost day was celebrated for the first time in Wadduwa, which is continuously celebrated as the Church feast of Wadduwa, the church was renamed as the Church of the Holy Spirit thereon.
1887 – With the guidance of Rev. Daniel Wilkinson, foundation stone was laid to initiate rebuilding the church to facilitate the growing needs of the parishioners.
1936 – The Archbishop of Colombo declared Waduwa parish as an independent parish in the deanery of Kalutara. Molligoda and Arukgoda churches were also made managed by the Wadduwa Parish.
1938- Elevating the flagstaff in the church premises for the first time. Thenceforth, the flagstaff has been elevated annually, preceding in time of the feast of the church.
1929 to 1932 – Is considered as a golden era in the architectural structure of the church building through guidance of Rev. Benedict; where the magnificent “Mogoppuwa”of the church was designed and build.
1959 to 1967 – Redesigning and reconstructing the architectural aspects of the Church building with the guidance of Rev. Pathirana and A. Didon.
1973 – Parish of Wadduwa officially marked one of its most important spiritual miles stones by
bringing up a priest for the first time. Mervin Fernando was ordained to priesthood.
1983 – Year marked as the Centenary Year of the Wadduwa Parish.
1987 to 1997 – Considered as a golden decade for the young generation of Wadduwa. Edward Costa is a name that had set many memories in the lives of our then dear youngsters.
2004 – The dark day in many Sri Lankan lives, the day of Tsunami. Our then parish priest Fr. Prasad Perera initiated many aiding campaigns to Catholic and non-Catholic families in
Wadduwa.
2012 – The Molligoda church was reconstructed with the guidance of then parish priest Rev. Sujeewa Athukorala. Same year the institute of Aquinas was incepted in the church premises aiming post academic development in our students.
