සුබ වෛශාක්ය ත්රයි මංගල්යයක් ඔබට! 🙏
වෙසක් පුන් පොහෝ දිනය යනු ශ්රී ලංකාවාසී මෙන්ම ලෝකවාසී සමස්ත බෞද්ධ ජනතාවගේම උත්තරීතරම සහ පූජනීයම දිනයයි. ලොව්තුරා බුදුරජාණන් වහන්සේගේ උපත, බුදුවීම සහ පිරිනිවීම යන උතුම් තෙමඟුල සිදුවූයේ අද වන් වෙසක් පුන් පොහෝ දිනකය. මැයි මාසයේ උදාවන වෙසක් පෝය, තවත් සුවිශේෂී ශාසනික සහ ඓතිහාසික සිදුවීම් රැසකින් අර්ථවත් වේ. සුමේධ තාපසයා දීපංකර බුදුරජාණන් වහන්සේගෙන් නියත විවරණ ලැබීම, සිද්ධාර්ථ කුමාරයා සතර පෙරනිමිතිවල ව්යාධි රූපය හෙවත් ලෙඩෙකුගේ ස්වරූපය දැකීම, සහ ඥාතීන්ගේ මානය දුරු කිරීම වෙනුවෙන් බුදුරජාණන් වහන්සේ යමා මහා පෙළහර පෑම වැනි උතුම් සිදුවීම් රැසක් මෙදින සිදුවිය. එමෙන්ම ආනන්ද මහා රහතන් වහන්සේ වසර 120ක් ආයු වළදා රෝහීණී ගඟ මධ්යයේ දී පිරිනිවන් පෑම, බුදුරජාණන් වහන්සේගේ තෙවන ලංකාගමනය සිදුවීම, විජය කුමරුගේ ලංකාගමනය සහ දේවානම්පියතිස්ස රජුගේ දෙවන රාජාභිෂේකය සිදුවීම ද වෙසක් පෝ දිනකම සිදුවීම විශේෂත්වයකි. මීට අමතරව රුවන්වැලි මහා සෑයේ වැඩ ආරම්භ කිරීම, මහා විහාරයේ පළමු උපසම්පදා උත්සවය පැවැත්වීම මෙන්ම අතීත සිංහල බෞද්ධ රජවරුන්ගේ අභිෂේක මංගල්යයන් පැවැත්වීම ද මෙවැනිම උතුම් වෙසක් පොහෝ දිනකම සිදුවී ඇත.
බෞද්ධ ජනතාව සෑම වසරකම වෙසක් උත්සවය සමරන්නේ ඉමහත් භක්තියකිනි. මාස ගණනාවක සිට සූදානම් වී නිවෙස් හා මාර්ග වෙසක් පහන් කූඩු, තොරන් සහ බෞද්ධ කොඩි වලින් සරසන අතර, සෑම පන්සලක්ම සිල්ගත් උපාසක උපාසිකාවන්ගෙන් පිරි ඉතිරී යයි. රට පුරා පැවැත්වෙන දන්සල් ද වෙසක් සමයේ සුන්දරත්වය සහ පරිත්යාගශීලී බව මැනවින් කියාපායි. බුදුරජාණන් වහන්සේ දේශනා කළ නිර්වාණ මාර්ගය ඔස්සේ යාමට ආමිස පූජාව මෙන්ම ප්රතිපත්ති පූජාවද අප සැමට එකසේ වැදගත් වේ.
ඔබ සැමට දහම් සිසිලෙන් සිත් නිවාලූ, මුළු ලොවම සුවපත් වන පින්බර වෙසක් මංගල්යයක් වේවා!

Vesak Full Moon Poya Day is the most sacred and spiritually significant day for Buddhists in Sri Lanka and across the globe. Falling in the month of May, it primarily commemorates the Tri-Sacred events (Te-Māgula) of Gautama Buddha, which are His Birth, His Enlightenment, and His Supreme Passing Away (Parinivana). Beyond these core events, Vesak holds deep historical and Sasana significance, marking several monumental milestones that shaped Buddhist history. It marks the auspicious day when Ascetic Sumedha received Niyatha Vivarana (definite prophecy) from Deepankara Buddha, and when Prince Siddhartha witnessed the Sick Man, which was one of the four divine omens. It is also the day the Buddha performed the Yama Maha Perahara (Twin Miracle) to dispel the pride of His relatives, and the day Arahath Ananda Thero passed away at the age of 120 in the middle of the Rohini River. Furthermore, the Buddha's historic third visit to Sri Lanka, the arrival of Prince Vijaya to Ceylon, the second coronation of King Devanampiyatissa, the commencement of construction on the great Ruwanweli Seya, and the very first Upasampada ceremony at the Maha Vihara all took place on this majestic day. Even the traditional coronations for ancient Sinhala Buddhist kings were held on Vesak Poya.
Every year, this festival is celebrated with immense joy, devotion, and cultural splendor. For months, people prepare grand lanterns, intricate Thoron (pandols), and hoist Buddhist flags to illuminate homes and streets. Temples overflow with devotees observing Sil, and Dansals (alms-stalls) open nationwide, embodying the true spirit of generosity. While we honor the Buddha through Amisa Pooja (material offerings), let us place equal importance on Pratipatti Pooja (practicing the Dhamma) to truly walk the path toward Nirvana.
May the cooling light of the Dhamma bring peace to your mind, and may the entire world be healed and blessed this Vesak!
