මෙම පුදබිමෙහි ඇති සුවිශේෂීත්වය නම් සේරු නුවර මහා සෑයේ සම්බුදුරජාණන් වහන්සේගේ ලලාට ධාතූන් වහන්සේ තැන්පත් කර තිබීමය. එපමණකුදු නොව එදා තපස්සු බල්ලුක වෙළෙඳ දෙබෑයන්ට බුදුරජාණන් වහන්සේ ජීවමාන කාලයේ ලබා දුන් කේස ධාතූන් ගෙන් කොටසක් ද මෙහි තැන්පත් කර ඇති බව ධාතු වංසයේ සඳහන්ව තිබේ.

මෙම ඓතිහාසික මහා සෑ කරවන ලද්දේ කාවන්තිස්ස රාජ්‍ය සමයේ ය. (ක්‍රි.පූ. 205 – 61) ධාතු වංශයේ සඳහන් වන අන්දමට අප මහා සම්මා සම්බුදුර

ජාණන් වහන්සේගේ බුද්ධත්වයෙන් අටවන වසරේ ලංකාවට තෙවැනි වර වැඩම කළ අවස්ථාවේදී පන්සියයක් මහරහතන් වහන්සේ සමඟ නිරෝධ සමාපත්තියට සමවැදී සිටි බවත් ධාතු වංශයේ සඳහන් වෙයි.
