The Religious Observance on the occasion of 76th Independence Day celebration on Sunday, 4th February 2024 at the Al Jami-ul -Alfar Mosque (Red Mosque).
The Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs, in coordination with the Ministry of Budhdhasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, organized a Religious Observance program on the occasion of the 76th Independence Day celebration on Sunday, 4th February 2024 at the Al Jami-ul -Alfar Mosque (Red Mosque). This event was graced by Hon. Ali Sabry, PC., MP., Minister of Foreign Affairs, who was the Chief Guest and Hon A. J. M. Muzammil , Governor of the Uva Province. Who was the Special Guest of Honor, Hon. A.H.M.Fowzy Member of Parliament, Mr.Yubil Septian, Counsellor of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, Chairman of Haj Committee, Members of the Wakf Tribunal, Members of Wakf board, respective Ulamas, Government Officials Trustees and Jamath members of the Al Jami-ul -Alfar Mosque, Students of Zahira College -Colombo and Madarsathul Ilm Arabic College ,Colombo -12 ,Distinguished Invitees and several others attended the event.
The program started with the hoisting of the national flag by Hon. Ali Sabry,Minister of Foreign Affairs, followed by the National Anthem sang by Students of Zahira College, Colombo- 10. Two minutes of silence was observed in memory of the members of the Armed Forces and the Police, who sacrificed their lives to safeguard and protect the sovereign Tory and integrity of Sri Lanka.
Ash Shiekh Aslam Uzair (Haqqani),Imaam of Al Jami-Ul -Alfar Mosque recited the Qirath. A welcome speech was made by Mr. Z,A.M.Faizal, Director of the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs. Special Dua in Sinhala was made by Ash Shikh Arkam Nooramith General Secretary - All Ceylon Jamiathul Ulama Council in Tamil and Sinhala languages.
Hon. Ali Sabry made the Keynote speech as the chief guest. He reiterated the contribution of Muslim leaders for the independence and social, economic, and political development of the country and the necessity of peace , harmony, and coexistence among all communities for the prosperous future of our country.
The vote of thanks was conveyed by Al Haj Jafar Ali Farook Treasurer of the Board of Trustees of the Al Jami-Ul -Alfar Mosque.The program ended with Salawath, followed by a refreshment of Sri Lankan.
