The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the passing of President Jeffrey R. Holland : “With heavy hearts, we announce that President Jeffrey R. Holland, President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, passed away today at approximately 3:15 a.m. (MST) due to complications associated with kidney disease, surrounded by his family. He was 85 years old."

The First Presidency has announced two inspired updates for the Church:

1️⃣ Young women who choose to serve full-time missions may now begin at age 18, following high-school graduation. This offers greater opportunity for those who feel ready to serve.

2️⃣ Saturday evening sessions of general conference will be discontinued, allowing greater focus on the Saturday morning and afternoon sessions.

We are grateful for continuing revelation and for leaders who guide the Church with love.

President Dallin H. Oaks was announced today as the 18th President and Prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The announcement was made during a live broadcast from Salt Lake City, Utah. President Oaks was sustained and set apart today, October 14, 2025.

In The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the prophet is chosen through a divinely inspired process. When the prophet passes away, the First Presidency is dissolved, and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, led by the longest-serving Apostle, assumes leadership, confirming the new Prophet through revelation and priesthood authority.

President Oaks, 93, succeeds President Russell M. Nelson, who passed away September 27, 2025.

The new leader of a global faith of more than 17 million members has called President Henry B. Eyring, 92, and President D. Todd Christofferson, 80 to serve with him as first and second counselors in the First Presidency, the Church’s highest governing body.

President Oaks also announced that President Jeffrey R. Holland, 84, will be the President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

The Church donates a new six-classroom building and a 12-seat toilet and washroom building to a school in Ghana

On September 4, 2025, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints donated a six-classroom building, a 12-seat washroom, a new septic system, and two 10,000-liter water tanks to Ayirebi Senior High School in Ghana.

With over 1,500 students, the school had been struggling with overcrowded classrooms and unsafe toilet conditions — even snakes in the old facilities.

Thanks to this project, built in just nine months, students now have a safer, cleaner, and more inspiring place to learn.

This gift reflects the Church’s mission to bless communities, uplift youth, and help create brighter futures. 🌍
