On this blessed day, we honour our Heavenly Mother who lovingly watches over our nation and guides us with her gentle presence.

🙏 As youth, we place our lives, our service, and our future into her caring hands, asking her to strengthen our faith, unite our hearts, and lead us closer to her Son, Jesus Christ. May her intercession bring peace, harmony, and blessings upon our families, our parish, and our beloved country.

Commissioning Mass of Catechists 2026 – St. Sebastian’s Sunday School, Poruthota ✨✨✨

Yesterday, we celebrated a significant milestone for our Sunday School at St. Sebastian’s Church, Poruthota. Our dedicated catechists made their formal Act of Commitment during the Holy Mass celebrated by our Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Hemantha Perera.FrHemantha Perera
During the service, we also warmly welcomed Rev. Sr. Malrani who has been newly appointed to oversee the Sunday School under the guidance of Fr. Hemantha.
We ask for your prayers for our teachers and for Sister Malrani as they embark on this journey to guide our children in the light of the Gospel.✨✨✨

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Rev. Fr. Hemantha Perera for his spiritual leadership and for presiding over this beautiful service. We also thank Rev. Sr. Malrani for accepting her new appointment; we look forward to growing together in faith under her dedicated care.

Feast of St. Joseph Vaz✨✨✨

First Saint of Sri Lanka🇱🇰✨✨

On this blessed feast day, we joyfully remember Saint Joseph Vaz, the first saint of Sri Lanka, a true shepherd chosen by God to protect and nurture His people during times of great hardship. His life stands as a powerful testimony of courage, sacrifice, humility, and unwavering faith.

Saint Joseph Vaz arrived in our land as a humble servant, carrying no worldly power, yet filled with divine strength. Despite persecution, danger, and suffering, he remained faithful to his mission, travelling village to village to serve God’s people, celebrate the sacraments, and keep the flame of faith alive. His love for Christ and deep compassion for the faithful knew no limits.

As a youth community, we find in Saint Joseph Vaz a true role model. He teaches us that leadership begins with service, that true strength is found in humility, and that faith must be lived through action, not words alone. His life challenges us to stand firm in our beliefs, to serve others selflessly, and to remain faithful even when the path is difficult.

May this great saint inspire us, the youth, to become living witnesses of Christ in our families, our parish, our village, and our nation. May we learn from his courage to speak the truth, from his patience to endure trials, and from his love to serve without expecting anything in return.

As we celebrate the feast of Saint Joseph Vaz, we pray that his intercession may guide our youth society to grow in unity, faith, and service. May we continue his legacy by being faithful disciples, humble servants, and responsible leaders, working together for the glory of God and the good of our community.

May her life of humility, obedience, and trust inspire us to walk with faith and hope in the year ahead.

Through Mary’s loving intercession, may this New Year bring peace to our hearts, unity to our families, strength to our Sunday school, and blessings to our parish and village.
