Buddhists in Medan Unite to Uphold Traditions on Vesak Day 2026
Medan, Sumatra — The atmosphere in Medan, the capital of North Sumatra province, was filled with faith as Indonesian Buddhists celebrated and performed religious ceremonies on "Vesak Day" (Hari Raya Waisak) at the Medan International Meditation Center (MIMC).
The atmosphere of faith was evident as many Buddhists, dressed in white or respectful attire, traveled to the Medan Buddhist temple in the heart of the city. Activities began with a procession of children carrying flower offerings to the Triple Gem, followed by chanting, meditation, lighting lamps as offerings to the Buddha, and listening to a sermon from the monks.
Mr. Yoshi, president of the Garudadharma Association, expressed his gratitude, saying, "Today was a very joyful and fulfilling day. I am ready to contribute even more to the Buddhist religion."
