මහා සිකුරාදා යනු මුළු මහත් මිනිස් සංහතියේම පව් උදෙසා ජේසුස් වහන්සේ කල්වාරි කන්ද මත තම ජීවිතය පූජා කළ ශෝකී මෙන්ම අතිශය ශුද්ධ වූ දිනයයි. උන්වහන්සේ කුරුසිය මත විඳි අප්‍රමාණ දුක් වේදනාවන් අපට පසක් කර දෙන්නේ දේව ප්‍රේමයේ ඇති නිහතමානිකම සහ කැපකිරීමේ උදාරත්වයයි. එය හුදෙක් මරණය සිහිපත් කරන දිනයක් නොව, අන්ධකාරය පරදා ආලෝකයත්, වෛරය පරදා ප්‍රේමයත් ජයගත් උත්තරීතර දිනයකි.
