The 60th World Day of Social Communications Celebrated at St. Joseph Church, Kuliyapitiya.

Celebrating the 60th World Day of Social Communications, the Holy Eucharist was presided over by His Lordship Most Rev. Dr. Jude Nishantha Silva, the Bishop of Badulla and the Chairman of the Catholic National Commission for Social Communications at St. Joseph's church, Kuliyapitiya.

Very Rev. Fr. Piyal Janaka Fernando, the Vicar General of the Catholic Diocese of Kurunegala and Rev. Fr. Jude Chrishantha, the National Director of the Catholic National Commission for Social Communications concelebrated at the Mass together with other priests.

Digital Drugs Seminar Successfully Held in the Diocese of Kurunegala.

The Social Communication Centre of the Diocese of Kurunegala organized a special seminar on “Digital Drugs” on 16 May 2026, at “Sathpahana”, Kuliyapitiya, bringing together catechists, youth, and students from across the diocese.

The seminar was conducted by Mr. Roshan Perera, who delivered an informative and thought-provoking presentation on the growing influence of digital addiction and its effects on individuals and society. He explained how excessive use of social media, online gaming, and digital content can become a form of “digital drug,” affecting mental health, relationships, and spiritual well-being.

A total of 159 participants attended the program. The seminar offered valuable insights into the challenges posed by the digital world and encouraged participants to use digital media wisely and responsibly.
