In Sri Lanka, Our Lady of Katunayake's Shrine is a Most Sacred Shrine, where abundant miracles are taking place. For Devotees, these are truly wonderful happenings, which could be heard, seen and could experience during their life time for those who have a faith. But, we should not get surprised at these miraculous happenings. The reason is Lord Jesus Christ has appeared in person in this Shrine. Jesus Christ who made His live appearance in this Shrine has selected a Holy Apostle and He is the Only Holy Apostle currently living in this world. He lives a quiet life in this Shrine and offers prayers to Mother Mary on behalf of devotees. Blessed Virgin Mary has made Her live appearance at this Most Sacred Shrine twenty three times up to now.
Not only these miracles, but there are many more wonderful miraculous stories concerning this Sacred Shrine, which are diverse. Every Saturday at 6pm this Miraculous Prayer is being offered and by joining this prayer with faith, the graces and help granted by Blessed Mother to devotees who ask for favours from Her, are many and they are indeed truly miracles. Devotees will get an opportunity to join this Miraculous Prayer Recite, in front of the Statue of Mother Mary with Baby Jesus on her left hand. When Our Blessed Virgin Mary made Her live presence in front of His Holiness The Apostle Rohan Lalith Aponso, on 27th July 1977, She was carrying Baby Jesus on Her left hand. Therefore, on the blessed advice of His Holiness The Apostle Rohan Lalith Aponso, this Statue has been made accordingly. That Apparition was Mother Mary’s 18th appearance in this Sacred Shrine.
Many devotees had the blessing and opportunity to see with their own eyes, various signs of life emanating from this Statue, on every Saturday at 6pm onwards. Some devotees had seen these signs of life from the blessed Statue on several Saturdays and we have to mention here with gratitude and thanks to Mother Mary, that on every Saturday at least ten faithful devotees had seen these signs of life emanating from this Statue.
The truth coming out of these miraculous happenings is that Mother Mary’s constant gaze and blessings are truly directed towards Our Lady of Katunayake's Shrine, on every Saturday evenings. We are aware that our beloved Blessed Virgin Mary’s eyes are focused constantly on Our Lady of Katunayake's Shrine. We have powerful miraculous evidence for it. Especially, many graces received by devotees who visit this Sacred Shrine on week days and pleading silently before the Statue of Blessed Virgin Mary with Baby Jesus which is established in the Shrine ground, which brought relief and solace to them, tells us the miraculous happenings.
Yet, on every Saturdays from 6pm onwards till the recitation of the Miraculous Prayer is over, the wonderful signs of life emanating from this Statue, specially made to resemble Baby Jesus in the left hand of Blessed Virgin Mary, proves beyond doubt that Blessed Virgin Mary loves the Miraculous Prayer and devotees who participate in this prayer with faith and hope, and raising their letters of grievances, get solace from Blessed Virgin Mary.
The Miraculous Prayer service before the "Statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary with Baby Jesus," which exhibits living signs, will be held next Saturday (August 22nd, 2026) at 6pm.
