our Lord Jesus Christ, who is also God, was foretold under the image of a lion because of His royalty and glory. In the same way, the Scriptures also spoke long ago of Antichrist as a lion because of his tyranny and violence. For the deceiver tries to make himself like the Son of God in every way. Christ is a lion, so Antichrist is also a lion. Christ is a king, John 18:37, so Antichrist is also a king. The Savior was revealed as a lamb, John 1:29, and in the same way he too will appear as a lamb, though inwardly he is a wolf. The Savior came into the world through the circumcision, and he will come in the same way. The Lord sent apostles among all the nations, and in the same way he will send false apostles. The Savior gathered the sheep that had been scattered abroad, and in the same way he will gather together a people that is scattered abroad. The Lord gave a seal to those who believed in Him, and he will give one in the same way. The Savior appeared in the form of a man, and he too will come in the form of a man. The Savior raised up and showed His holy flesh like a temple, John 2:19, and he will raise a stone temple in Jerusalem. We will show his deceptive tricks in what follows.
