நற்செய்தி வாசகம்
கோதுமை மணி மண்ணில் விழுந்து மடிந்தால்தான் மிகுந்த விளைச்சலை அளிக்கும்.
✠ யோவான் எழுதிய தூய நற்செய்தியிலிருந்து வாசகம் 12: 20-33
அக்காலத்தில்
வழிபாட்டுக்காகத் திருவிழாவுக்கு வந்தோருள் கிரேக்கர் சிலரும் இருந்தனர். இவர்கள் கலிலேயாவிலுள்ள பெத்சாய்தா ஊரைச் சேர்ந்த பிலிப்பிடம் வந்து, “ஐயா, இயேசுவைக் காண விரும்புகிறோம்” என்று கேட்டுக்கொண்டார்கள். பிலிப்பு அந்திரேயாவிடம் வந்து அது பற்றிச் சொன்னார்; அந்திரேயாவும் பிலிப்பும் இயேசுவிடம் சென்று அதைத் தெரிவித்தனர்.
இயேசு அவர்களைப் பார்த்து, “மானிடமகன் மாட்சி பெற வேண்டிய நேரம் வந்துவிட்டது. கோதுமை மணி மண்ணில் விழுந்து மடியாவிட்டால் அது அப்படியே இருக்கும். அது மடிந்தால்தான் மிகுந்த விளைச்சலை அளிக்கும் என உறுதியாக உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன். தமக்கென்றே வாழ்வோர் தம் வாழ்வை இழந்துவிடுவர். இவ்வுலகில் தம் வாழ்வைப் பொருட்டாகக் கருதாதோர் நிலைவாழ்வுக்குத் தம்மை உரியவராக்குவர். எனக்குத் தொண்டு செய்வோர் என்னைப் பின்பற்றட்டும். நான் இருக்கும் இடத்தில் என் தொண்டரும் இருப்பர். எனக்குத் தொண்டு செய்வோருக்குத் தந்தை மதிப்பளிக்கிறார்” என்றார். மேலும் இயேசு, “இப்போது என் உள்ளம் கலக்கமுற்றுள்ளது. நான் என்ன சொல்வேன்? ‘தந்தையே, இந்த நேரத்திலிருந்து என்னைக் காப்பாற்றும்’ என்பேனோ? இல்லை! இதற்காகத்தானே இந்நேரம்வரை வாழ்ந்திருக்கிறேன். தந்தையே, உம் பெயரை மாட்சிப்படுத்தும்” என்றார்.
அப்போது வானிலிருந்து ஒரு குரல், “மாட்சிப்படுத்தினேன்; மீண்டும் மாட்சிப்படுத்துவேன்” என்று ஒலித்தது. அங்குக் கூட்டமாய் நின்றுகொண்டிருந்த மக்கள் அதைக் கேட்டு, “அது இடிமுழக்கம்” என்றனர். வேறு சிலர், “அது வானதூதர் ஒருவர் அவரோடு பேசிய பேச்சு” என்றனர். இயேசு அவர்களைப் பார்த்து, “இக்குரல் என் பொருட்டு அல்ல, உங்கள் பொருட்டே ஒலித்தது. இப்போதே இவ்வுலகு தீர்ப்புக்குள்ளாகிறது; இவ்வுலகின் தலைவன் வெளியே துரத்தப்படுவான். நான் மண்ணிலிருந்து உயர்த்தப்படும்போது அனைவரையும் என்பால் ஈர்த்துக்கொள்வேன்” என்றார்.
தாம் எவ்வாறு இறக்கப் போகிறார் என்பதைக் குறிப்பிட்டே இப்படிச் சொன்னார்.

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 12,20-33.
Now there were certain Gentiles among them, who came up to adore on the festival day.
These therefore came to Philip, who was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying: Sir, we would see Jesus.
Philip cometh, and telleth Andrew. Again Andrew and Philip told Jesus.
But Jesus answered them, saying: The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.
Amen, amen I say to you, unless the grain of wheat falling into the ground die,
Itself remaineth alone. But if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world, keepeth it unto life eternal.
If any man minister to me, let him follow me; and where I am, there also shall my minister be. If any man minister to me, him will my Father honour.
Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour. But for this cause I came unto this hour.
Father, glorify thy name. A voice therefore came from heaven: I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.
The multitude therefore that stood and heard, said that it thundered. Others said: An angel spoke to him.
Jesus answered, and said: This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.
Now is the judgment of the world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.
And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all things to myself.
(Now this he said, signifying what death he should die.)
