Let us congratulate past Heartian Dr.Senuri Sahabandu for her outstanding achievements at the University of Colombo Graduation yesterday.Senuri grabbed the following medals and prizes for outstanding performance at the Faculty of Medicine,University of Colombo.
1.Loos Medal for pathology
2.Dr.D de S Muthukumarana medal for Clinical Medicine
3.Dr.K Dharmadasa gold medal for Clinical Medicine
4.Rajasuriya Prize for Clinical medicine
5.Prof T Vishwanathan medal for excellence in clinical obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Senuri is from the class of 2014 at SHC.She served in the student council in 2012 as the Treasurer of Queen's Own House.

Our former Home science teacher and a past pupil of Sacred Heart Convent, mother of Himali Jayasooriya, Ms . Mallika Jayasuriya (nee Manawadu) has passed away. Funeral will be held on Tuesday 20th September at 3 pm - Crematorium, Unawatuna .

Helani Nanayakkkara nee Wickramasinhge, who was a kind and a dedicated Joint Secretary of PPA was a descendent from the well-known Wickramasingha Family in the city of Galle where many of her family belonged to Sacred Heart Convent as well. Her sister Dimantha Wickramasingha was an active Heartian during school time.
Born on 24th August 1965, she joined Sacred Heart Convent in 1971 and left the school with great pride after being selected to University of Moratuwa in 1983. She had been a Senior Prefect and a Captain of Queen’s Own House and she was famous for her beautiful handwriting in the school community. It was no wonder, that she was selected to the University of Moratuwa to study Architecture and thus she qualified herself as a Charted Architect. She married Mr. Kulasiri Nanayakkara and brought up two beautiful Heartians, Januli and Yuara.
With her creativity and the sustained knowledge in Architecture and designing, she never forgot her duty towards the school and she had been volunteering in many projects dedicating to her utmost. She was silent and devoted towards the school and thus she joined the PPA Committee in 2008 and she was appointed as a Joint Secretary in 2013, during a time where the school needed a lot of support from the Past Pupils. Her caliber and personality drove many of the PPA members in new ventures towards succeeding in PPA projects. After serving the committee for a decade she left in 2018, leaving tracks of her smile and kindness in our hearts. Even after leaving the PPA Committee, she volunteered to give her fullest support to uplift the activities in the projects linked to the school Archives.
Today we remember her with pain and sorrow but it is a true fact that she kept up her smile in whatever the situations she faced in her life.
Her mortal remains lie at her residence, No 241 B , Pinkandawatte , Sudumetiya ,Dodanduwa . Funeral will be held on Thursday 15th September @ 5 pm at the crematorium, Hikkaduwa.
May she attain Supreme Bliss of Nirvana………
