Infant Jesus Youth Society Demanhandiya OFFICIAL LOGO
The youth of the Infant Jesus church at Demanhandiya town which belongs to Kandawala parish have gathered around, to form an organization to spread the religious services by initiating a youth society on the silver jubilee of the church.
And hereby I would like to highly appreciate their intentions of serving society with their full potential and strength.
According to history, the catholic church had met many struggles, even wars through the years. But the protection from God has always been there to protect and strengthen the missions for spreading the good word about the heavenly kingdom. As to denote God's protection, the logo has been designed in a shape of a shield. And it has been given the colour gold to denote "preciousness" and "durability" as Gold is one of the metals that is very strong and expensive.
The foreground of the shield has been compartmentalized into four sections to explain the concepts below.
On the left side top, 6 lines have been arranged vertically to denote the spiritual gifts by the holy spirit that are received during the sacrament confirmation. The 3 white vertical lines represent gifts of healing, the working of miracles, and the gift of prophecy while the 3 red lines represent the word of knowledge and wisdom, the gift of faith, and different kinds of tongues and the interpretation of tongues. And these lines have arranged in a vertical position to demonstrate a connection between the God and the human.
On the right side top, 4 Capital letters "I, J, Y, S" have been written as an acronym for the term Infant Jesus Youth Society.
On the left side bottom, figures depict a woman holding a baby. Mother Mary has been depicted by the woman while infant Jesus is depicted by the baby in the picture. At the same time, it represents the main church of Kandawala which was dedicated to mother Mary by the figure of mother Mary while the figure of infant Jesus represents the church that has been dedicated for infant Jesus at Demanhandiya.
On the right-side bottom, 6 lines have been arranged horizontally to denote the seven-corporal works of mercy. By the 3 red horizontal lines feeding the hungry and giving drink to the thirsty, clothing the naked, and sheltering the homeless have been represented while the 3 white horizontal lines represent visiting the sick, visiting the imprisoned and burying the dead. The reason these lines to place in a horizontal position is to denote these corporal works are executed on a human level.
All these concepts were very deep and good. But the very true nature of the youth society was able to bring out after I included the cross and the 6 stars on top of the shield to represent the seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit. The golden cross represents the piety of the Lord while the golden stars represent wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, and fear of the Lord.
