Sri Lanka Baptist Men’s Fellowship Sri Lanka Baptist Men’s Fellowship Jesus had formed 12 men bringing them from many fields in many trades and vocations.

Sri Lanka Baptist Men’s Fellowship has been formed following the steps of Jesus and His disciples as to how they have formed a group of men for spiritual and physical needs of the early church and mission. Jesus trained His disciples for the extension of His kingdom and sent them forth to proclaim the Good News and establish Churches. The early Christian community headed by the Apostles selected,

appointed and anointed 7 men as Deacons to serve the physical needs of the community. According to this pattern, Baptist men with various talents gathered and established a fellowship and it was named “Sri Lanka Baptist Men’s Fellowship”. Brothers Clarence Mendis, Solomon Ranasinghe and Nihal Perera held preliminary discussions in 1994 and gathered information to form such a movement in Sri Lanka and the first gathering of Brothers from few Baptist Churches in Sri Lanka was held in February, 1995 at Carey College, Colombo. The first programme was held on the 22nd of April, 1995 from 3 pm to 5.30 pm at Sri Lanka Baptist Sangamaya Conference Hall, Colombo to remember in prayer, the World Baptist Men’s Movement and did Bible reading on the telephone with the Baptist Men’s Movement – England and subsequently it followed by a programme with a discussion on Christian stewardship. The first General Meeting was held on 2nd September, 1995 at 2.45 pm at Carey College, Colombo with a gathering of 24 brothers from different churches.
