We have to give thanks to God for three things as we celebrate the 172nd Anniversary of Christ Church, Galle Face. Secondly, we must thank God for the mission of the Church, both past and present. Thirdly, we must thank God for the solidarity we enjoy within our church community.

Faith, Humility, and Dependence: The Way to Greatness (5th October 2025 Sermon)

Today's Sermon is from St. Matthew 18:1-19

Children, elders, and teachers are very important groups in our society when it comes to teaching and learning. Lord Jesus taught His disciples a very important lesson with regard to "WHO IS THE GREATEST". As much as we make ourselves humble, God will raise us up. Lord Jesus taught this lesson to His disciples by having a little child amidst them and saying how important trust, faith, humility, obedience, and dependency are. Unless you become like a little child, you will never enter the Kingdom of God.

Reflecting the Father's Image (28th September 2025 Sermon)

Today's Sermon is from St. Matthew 5:43-48

Has anyone ever looked at you and said, "You look exactly like your mother or father"? If they have, it is because you and that parent share a similar outward appearance, voice, or qualities. In the same way, Lord Jesus taught His disciples that if you follow the Golden Rules mentioned in the Bible text above, you will be like the Father who is in heaven. If you have ever loved your enemy, or even tried to, then you have experienced the image of your Creator, God.

The Cross: Where Sinners Become Saints (14th September 2025 Sermon)

Today's Sermon is from St. Luke 15:1-10

The Lord Jesus came to this world to save sinners who repent of their sins. Usually, people do not like to associate with those who are labelled as "BAD PEOPLE." The main reason may be that they are afraid they will also be called bad, or that they might be negatively influenced. A frequent complaint from the Pharisees and Scribes was that Jesus went to sinners and ate with them. The fact is that Jesus accepted the people who were labelled as sinners, but not their sinful activities. Jesus ultimately had to pay the price for His saving act on the Cross. Salvation is from the Cross, and the people of the Cross are the people of salvation.

The Christian Home: A Reflection of God’s Kingdom (7th September 2025 Sermon)

Today's Sermon is from St. Luke 2:41-52

God created the world and saw that it was good. He has placed the Christian home within the larger family called the Kingdom of God. The world was given to human beings to work and take care of it, because they are only custodians, not the owners. That is why at the end of their lives, they leave everything behind and go empty-handed. The Lord Jesus's ministry was to embrace all the families of the earth into this greater family: the Kingdom of God. It is therefore vital that Christian homes embody the values and qualities of the Kingdom of God.

Humility: The Mark of a True Witness (31st August 2025 Sermon)

Today's Sermon is from St. Luke 14:7-14
Through our humility, people can see the Lord Jesus in our life. Humility is a very vital quality that all Christians must develop in their life. Humility and obedience go together, and pride and disobedience go together. Christ's meekness cannot be seen as a weakness because he made himself humble; even in death on a cross, his Father, God, raised him up and gave him the highest name and place. Can we be clothed with humility to be witnesses of the Mighty Lord?
