Ibn Taymiyyah رَحِمَهُ ٱللَّٰهُ said: “Zuhd is to leave alone those things which will not benefit you in the next life.” [Az-Zuhd by Ibn al-Qayyim, p. 18]

Zuhd does not mean abandoning wealth, possessions, or lawful blessings. Rather, it means freeing the heart from attachment to anything that does not bring benefit in the Hereafter.

Ibn Taymiyyah رَحِمَهُ ٱللَّٰهُ teaches that the believer measures his life according to what will remain after death. Many people spend their days chasing things that will soon vanish, while neglecting the deeds that will accompany them to the grave.

The righteous predecessors understood that this world is temporary and that true success lies in preparing for what comes after it. They used worldly blessings as a means of obeying Allah, not as an end in themselves.

Whoever practices zuhd does not necessarily own less than others; rather, he allows worldly matters to remain in his hand without letting them settle in his heart.

This beautiful hadith teaches us that how we speak is part of our character and faith.

🤍 Modesty teaches us humility, dignity, and restraint.

🤍 Speaking less does not mean never speaking. It means avoiding unnecessary words and speaking when there is something beneficial to say.

⚠️ Obscene speech includes vulgar, filthy, and offensive words.

⚠️ Excessive talking can lead a person into mistakes, backbiting, lies, arguments, and words they later regret.

Before you speak, ask yourself:

Is it true?
Is it beneficial?
Is it necessary?
Will Allah be pleased with these words?

Sometimes, silence is safer than a thousand words.

May Allah purify our hearts, beautify our character, and protect our tongues from harmful speech. 🤲
