PRAYER.

Today's Readings:
Sirach 48:1-14

Mathew 6:8
" Your Heavenly Father knows what you need even before you ask Him."

JESUS gave his Disciples the PERFECT PRAYER that dares to call GOD, OUR FATHER.

The Prayer teaches us to approach God our father with Confidence and Boldness,because the Lord has opened the way to heaven for us through his death and resurrection.

Do you believe that God's word has power to change and transform your life today?

Prophet Isaiah profess that God's word is like rain and melting Snow which makes barren ground spring to life and become abundantly fertile.
( Isaiah 55:10)

" When you PRAY with the WORD of GOD , you learn the HEART of GOD from the MOUTH of GOD ."

JESUS taught his disciples the Model of a Perfect Prayer to be made to God in the " Our Father."
IN PRAYER, we ought to acknowledge the Supremacy of God and worship him.
We should see God's Mercy and be ready to be Merciful to others.

" Forgive us the wrong we have done as we forgive those who wrong us."
( Mathew 6:12)

The five verses of the Prayer are followed by two verse explanation of the command in the our father to forgive( Mathew 6:14-15)when we forgive, we learn to Pray( Mark 11:25)
When we forgive, we remove an obstacle to receiving our Abba's Love. Seeking first God's kingdom is also a matter of forgiveness( Mathew 18:23).
FORGIVENESS IS THE KEY TO THE OUR FATHER.

JESUS warns his disciples of seeking glory - The Preoccupation with looking good and seeking Praise from others.

Why did Jesus single out Prayer, fasting and almsgiving?

Jews considered these three things as the cardinal works of religious life.
These were seen key signs of a pious person, three pillars which good life was based.

*TRUE PIETY IS SOMETHING MORE THAN FEELING GOOD OR LOOKING HOLY.

*TRUE PIETY IS LOVING DEVOTION TO GOD.
it is an attitude of awe, reverence, worship and obedience.

It is a gift and working of the Holy Spirit that enables us to devote our loved to God with a holy desire to please him in all things.
( Isaiah 11:1-2)

" When Iam completely united united to you, there will be no more sorrows or trials: entirely full of you, my life will be complete."

Lord reward those who seek him with humble hearts.

JESUS' redeeming love and Mercy frees us from all hatred and malice towards others.

SACRIFICE IS AN ESSENTIAL PART OF CHRISTIAN LIFE.
Following lovingly and faithfully in the Path of CHRIST JESUS is certainly not an easy mission.

LOVING THOSE WHO LOVE US DOES NOT IN THE SAME SENCE EXPLAIN THE CONCEPT OF CHRISTIAN SACRIFICE.

REMEMBERING that foxes have their holes and birds have nests but Son of man has nowhere to lay His his head, reminds us the SACRIFICIAL NATURE of our CHRISTIAN
CALLING.

First reading
GOD'S MERCY shown to Ahab is a call for ud to be Merciful even to our enemies.

Jesus invites us to a life of Continual Conversion so that we can pray our father

JESUS reverses the World's logic of VENGEANCE by COMMANDING MERCY and RESTRAINT.
"Do not resist one who is evil. "

JESUS TEACHES US That TRUE STRENGTH Lies on COMPASSION, not RETALIATION, In YEILDING,not DOMINATING.

If someone insults you, or take advantage of you how do you respond?
THE CHRISTIAN HEART MUST RISE ABOVE THE INSTINCT FOR REVENGE, REFLECTING GOD'S JUSTICE THROUGH GENTLENESS AND FORGIVENESS.

The Psalmist cries:
" O, Lord, give heed to my Signs. "

WE ARE REMINDED THAT GOD SEES EVERY ACT OF INJUSTICE AND HEARS THE CRY OF THE INNOCENT.

The way of Christ invites us to respond to wrongs not with Violence or Resentment,but with LOVE that TRANSFORMS HEARTS and RESTORES PEACE.

" LOVE Begins When DUTY FINISHES.It is Giving of THE CLOAK when THE COAT is Already taken. It is WALKING the EXTRA MILE."

JESUS himself demonstrated it through the his life and by dying on the Cross for to save us.

" The Harvest is Abundant but the labourers are few: "

JESUS' Compassion moves him to act.
" Seeing the crowds" like a sheep without a Shepherd. "
He chose Twelve disciples to Continue His mission - to heal, to cleanse, to Proclaim that the kingdom of God is near.

*In the choice of twelve Apostles we see a characteristic feature of God's work.
They were non- Professionals, had no
wealth or Privileged Position.
They were people who did ordinary things, no special education, no Social advantages.

JESUS WANTED ORDINARY PEOPLE WHO COULD TAKE AN ASSIGNMENT AND DO IT EXTRAORDINARILY WELL.

When the Lord Called us to serve, we must not think we have nothing or very little to offer.

THE LORD TAKE ORDINARY PEOPLE LIKE US CAN OFFER AND USES IT FOR GREATNESS IN HIS KINGDOM.

Do you believe that God wants to work in and through you for his glory?

Feast Of Saint Anthony Of Padua( 1195-1231)
Priest and Doctor of The Church.

" God is Love whoever remains in Love remains in and God in him."

Saint Anthony Of Padua, beloved Servant of God.

Story of Saint Anthony Of Padua:
Born in 1195 in Lisbon, baptismal name ' Fernando' to a Prominent family in the city.
At age 15 he entered the religious order of Saint Augastine.
Monestry life. There he began nine years of intense study. He assumed the name Anthony in honor of the Patrich of hermits.
Anthony travelled tirelessly to morroco, Northern Italy and Southern France.
Anthony was first recognized for his gift of preaching at a gathering for Ordination of Dominicans and franciscans in1222.
He continued to preach as he taught Friars.
In Padua in 1231, Anthony preached his last and most famous lenten Sermons. Crowds were so great
around 30,000 people, churches couldn't hold them.

To this day, Saint Anthony Of Padua is one of the Catholic Church's most revered and Popular Saints.

JESUS addressed the issue of HONESTY and TRUTHFULNESS in ONE'S CONDUCT and SPEECH.

" How forceful are honest words! "

TO BE TRUE TO ONESELF AND TO OTHERS REQUIRES CHARCHACER.

His word is truth and his law is truth.
His truth libetates us from illusion, deceit, and hypocrisy.

Jesus told his disciples that the truth will make you free.
( John 8:32)

Why is it so hard to be true and speak the truth?
TRUTH DEMANDS COMMITMENT- that we live our lives according to it and be faithful witnesses of the truth.

Why the feast?
The chruch in her wisdom and discernment instituted this feast to encourage us to have great confidence in approaching the most Holy and Immaculate Heart of Mary for all our Spiritual and material needs.

The sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary.
TWO HEARTS.
ONE PULSE.

It is the will of God that she is filled with grace and who " The Lord God is with you." in a preeminent manner will play a significant role in Salvation History.

" Come to me all you who are burdened and will give you rest."

JESUS invites the weary and burdened to find rest in Him.

Would you like to have a Heart to Heart encounter with our lord?

In honoring Jesus' Sacred Heart, we acknowledge just how much he loves each one of us.

TRUE WISDOM AND PEACE ARE NOT FOUND THROUGH PRIDE OR INTELLECT BUT THROUGH HUMBLE TRUST IN GOD'S LOVE.

*First Reading:
MOSES reminds the People that God chose the not because of their greatness, but Purely out of love and faithfulness to His Covenant.

GOD'S LOVE IS STEADFAST AND UNDERSEVED, FLOWING FROM HIS MERCY AND COMPASSION.

*Second Reading:
JOHN reveals this Divine Love reaches in fulness in Christ - God's own Son given to us - calling us to love one another as proof that God dwells within us.

*Together, the readings assures us that GOD'S LOVE , CHOOSES,REDEEMS, and REFRESHES those who APPROACH HIM with CHILD LIKE FAITH and HEARTS OPENED and to HIS GRACE.

In his response to His love and vulnerability, love Jesus wholeheartedly. In his sacred Heart, He had exposed Himself completely for you. He has " Set His heart on you. "

He Thirst for your love. ( John 19:28)
Give Him your Love in return.

*HONOR JESUS ON THE FEAST OF THE SACRED HEART WITH MASS AND HOLY COMMUNION.

Mathew 5:20
" Unless your righteousness Surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter into the kin of Heaven."

JESUS addressed the issue of keeping the commandments with his disciples.
*The scribes, equated righteousness with Satisfying the outward observance of the Law.

JESUS points to the HEART as the seat of DESIRE and CHOICE.
*Unless evil and forbidden desires are eradicated, the heart will be corrupted.

Do your fingers point at the mistakes of others?

*Pointing fingers, blaming others and recognizing someone else's mistakes always seems easier, than ADMITTING YOUR OWN .

*We often forget that when we have one finger pointing to someone else, we have three more pointing back at us.

" It is not ENOUGH to POINT the FINGER or attack those who DO NOT THINK LIKE US. That is a wretched tactic in today's POLITICAL and CULTURAL WARS,but it cannot be the METHOD of the CHURCH. Our GAZE must be EXTENSIVE and DEEP.The formation of CONSCIENCE is our first duty of LOVE, and this REQUIRES DELICACY and PERSEVERANCE in its IMPLEMENTATION. "

Saint Barnabas was sent by the chruch of Jerusalem to the new converts in Antioch.

" It was in Antioch that the disciples were called christians for the first time."
( Acts 11:26)

*Saint Barnabas was a Jew from Cyprus. Was a levite, was discipled by Paul the Apostle.

*Barnabas was a man with a helpful and optimistic nature. It was a special of the aforementioned description of him that he was given the name Barnabas after hid conversion which means " Son of Consolation. "
Barnabas shows a total dedication to the mission command of Jesus christ as visible in the Gospel.

*THE HOLY SPIRIT, spirit of Evangelizaion and mission commissioned the first Missionary Journey of Paul and Barnabas.

Saint Barnabas" Spoke our fearlessly "
( Acts 13:46) in Spreading the Gospel on the first Christian Mission. He acted " in Complete reliance on the Lord. "

" whoever obeys and teaches these commandments will be the greatest in the kingdom of Heaven."

JESUS made it clear that the ESSENCE of GOD'S LAW - his COMMANDMENTS and WAY of LIFE , MUST BE FULFILLED.

GOD'S LAW IS TRUE AND RIGHTEOUS BECAUSE IT FLOWS FROM HIS LOVE, AND FREEDOM FOR US.

To love and obey the precepts of the Kingdom, we must adhere to this maxim.

BELIEVE what you LEARN.
PRACTICE what you BELIEVE.
TEACH what you PRACTICE.

God gives us grace, help and strength to love as he loves, to forgive as he forgives, to think and Judge as he judges, and act as he acts with mercy, loving kindness.
