The Parish-level Bible Quiz Competition was successfully held across the Archdiocese to strengthen the love for the Word of God among Sunday school children.

Many students participated enthusiastically, showing their knowledge and faith through Scripture. This initiative helped to encourage a deeper understanding and living of God’s Word in parish communities.

The Vice Principals’ Meeting for the Colombo and Missionary Regions was held at St. Joseph Vaz Devadarma Nikethanaya on Sunday, 17 May 2026.

The highlight of the day was the inspiring talk on the "Synodal approach towards catechesis" conducted by Rev. Fr. Heshan Sachithra.

He encouraged the participants to journey together in faith through listening, participation, and missionary service in catechetical ministry.

A workshop for the Vice Principals of the Jaela Region was held on Sunday, 10 May, at the St. John the Baptist Church Hall, Nagoda.

The keynote address on *the synodal approach to catechesis* was delivered by Rev. Fr. Ranga Shehan. Very Rev. Fr. Lalith Felix, the Episcopal Vicar for the Region, was also present at the gathering.

The workshop provided a meaningful opportunity for discussion, collaboration, and spiritual renewal, encouraging the Vice Principals to strengthen their commitment to their mission and responsibilities in a synodal Church.

කොළඹ අගරදගුරු පදවියේ, 2023 වර්ෂයේ අවසාන දහම් ගුරු විභාගය සමත් දහම් ගුරුවර ගුරුවරියන්ට ඊට අදාළ සහතිකපත් ප්‍රදානය කිරීමේ උත්සවය, අගරදගුරු පදවි සහයක රදගුරු අති උතුම් ජේ.ඩී.ඇන්තනි ජයකොඩි හිමිපාණන්ගේ ප්‍රධානත්වයෙන්, රාජගිරිය දිව්‍ය හෘදය දෙව්මැදුරු ශාලාවේදී පැවැත්විණි. මෙහිදී කොළඹ අගරදගුරු පදවියේ විවිධ දිසාවන්ට අයත්, දහම් ගුරුවර ගුරුවරියන් 133 දෙනෙකු රදගුරු හිමිපාණන් අතින් සහතික ලබාගත් අතර, ජාතික ධර්මෝපදේශ අධ්‍යක්ෂක ගරු ප්‍රදීප් නිරෝෂන් පියතුමා සමග ගරු පියතුමන්ලා සහ පැවදි සොහොයුරු සොහොයුරියන් රැසක්ම මෙම අවස්ථාවට එක්වී සිටියහ. අගරදගුරු පදවි ධර්මෝපදේශ අධ්‍යක්ෂක ගරු දිනේෂ් ප්‍රශාන් අප්පුහාමි පියතුමා විසින් මෙම උත්සවය සංවිධානය කර තිබුණි.

The Gurubevilla Deanery Catechists’ Day was held on 09 May 2026 at St. Joseph Church. A spiritual and informative session was conducted to deepen the understanding of the noble mission and responsibility of catechists as witnesses to Christ.

Four catechists were honoured for their faithful service of 25 years in catechetical ministry, inspiring others to serve the Church with dedication and love.

Rev. Fr. Director visited St. Anthony's Sunday School - Muruthana of Toppu Parish on Sunday, 10 May 2026.

The Holy Mass was celebrated prayerfully, reminding all present of the noble mission of catechesis in building the Kingdom of God and forming young hearts in faith and Christian values.

Following the Holy Mass, Rev. Fr. Director met with the Catechists and encouraged them to continue their ministry with dedication, zeal and a true synodal spirit of service.

Thereafter, he visited the class rooms and met the Sunday school children.

Sunday schools organised Sinhala and Tamil New Year celebrations for the students and catechists throughout the Archdiocese.

These celebrations helped to promote and preserve our rich cultural heritage while fostering unity, fellowship and appreciation of traditions among the younger generation.
