BLACK SATURDAY
April 11, 2020
There is no Word today. The Word of God is silent, buried in the dark tomb.
But there is hope for He has promised to rise again. As we wait for Him to emerge, let us do some reflecting...
Do you know where in the Bible Jesus first appears? It's in Genesis, the very first book. When God said, "Let there be light," that was the invisible Word of God.
In the beginning, Jesus the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Through Him all things were created. Nothing came to existence without Him (John 1:1-2). He created the universe, the earth, the air and the seas. Then He created all the plants and animals.
Jesus created this wonderful world for man - the same man that killed Him yesterday, the same man that was destroying His beautiful creation.
In the days of Noah, a global flood cleansed the world of sin. But Noah and family were saved, locked down in a boat for 150 days (Genesis 7:24). In our time, a pandemic is cleansing the world of physical and spiritual pollution. The earth is healing while crime, adultery, prostitution, drugs and abortions are way down. Like Noah, we too are a saved in a lockdown in our homes.
It may be cramped and difficult, but Jesus never deserts us. He chose to be locked down in the tomb with our sins. So let us be with Him in repentance. Let us spend the day reading His Words in the Bible, that we may emerge with Him as beautiful new creations into a beautiful new world.
