St. Mary's Cathedral, Badulla The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary is the spiritual heart of the Diocese of Badulla.

As the seat of the Bishop, it serves as a historic landmark in Uva Providence, honoring its patroness through a deep-rooted legacy of faith. The Church of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary became a Cathedral with the er****on of the diocese of Badulla (separation the Province of Uva from the Central Province ) on 18th December 1972 and the appointment of its first Bishop, Most Rev. Dr. Leo Nanayakkara, O.S.B who had been from 1959 till then the Bishop of Kandy
