An awareness session on reproductive health and wellbeing was successfully conducted for the women of Wewabedda Division Upper and Lower Battawatta Estate, Madulsima. The session was led by the SPHI (Supervising Public Health Inspector) of Lunugala, providing valuable knowledge to promote better health, hygiene, and overall wellbeing among the community.

We successfully organized a Mobile Medical Screening Camp under the project โ€œTowards Better Health, Sanitation & Water Resources Supply Facilities for Tea Plantation Women in Sri Lankaโ€ by USCOD Centre โ€“ Caritas Badulla.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the CBO members of Battawatte Estate, Wewabedda Upper and Lower Division โ€“ Madulsima, the dedicated doctors, Central Hospital staff, the hospital team, Parish Priest of Madulsima Church, and the Assistant Parish Priest, Rev. Successfully conducted awareness sessions on health, hygiene, and sanitation for community members of Batawatte Estate CBO Members (Upper & Lower Divisions) and Grade 6 & 7 students of Battawatte Tamil Maha Vidyalaya.

The program highlighted the importance of hand washing, personal hygiene, and the impact of unhealthy habits, helping families understand how simple practices can prevent illness and reduce medical expenses. Participants gained valuable knowledge on maintaining better health and well-being.

Special thanks to the resource person, the Public Health Midwife of Lunugala General Hospital. We also extend our sincere appreciation to the Principal, class teachers, Parish Priest of Madulsima, Rev. Sister, and all participants for their support.

Under the Project, the Capacity Building Program for farmer households and the distribution of seeds were successfully held at Thotulagalla, Haputale by USCOD Badulla. In addition, a training on sustainable agriculture practices was conducted for youth in Bandarawela, strengthening their skills and promoting eco-friendly farming.

The USCOD Centre organized a relief distribution program to support families affected by Cyclone โ€œDitwah.โ€ Kitchen items and sanitary packs were distributed to selected beneficiaries from Badulla, Passara, Soranathota, Malangamuwa, Thelbedda, Soudham, Hali-Ela, and several other affected areas.

The event was attended by the Chairman of the USCOD Centre, Rt. Rev. Dr. Jude Nishantha Silva, Government officer from the District Secretariat, and the Director, Rev. Fr. Pradeep Nishantha, who handed over the items to the beneficiaries.The program was successfully carried out with the support and coordination of the USCOD Centre staff.

The successful implementation of our Food Security Project aims to strengthen community resilience and promote sustainable livelihoods.

The USCOD FGGH Team of Odhampa Division, Demodara, successfully visited Selvakandha Estate in Deniyaya for an exposure visit. This meaningful exchange brought together two estate communities to share their experiences, culture, and knowledge.
The teams discussed important aspects such as health (well-being), education, and livelihood development, while also sharing their success stories and ideas on overcoming challenges in their daily lives.
As both groups belong to estate communities, this visit created a strong platform for mutual understanding, learning, and encouragement.

Under the FGGH Project of the Odhampe community, we successfully organized a meaningful community event focused on childrenโ€™s society and development. The program included activities to promote the Childrenโ€™s Society, celebrate Childrenโ€™s Day, and support the Vigilant Group in their community development work.
As part of the initiative, cupboards and chairs were handed over to the community library, and school materials were distributed to students of the FGGH Project Childrenโ€™s Society. We also joyfully celebrated the Pongal festival, where the community prepared Pongal together and shared it with everyone, strengthening unity and togetherness.
We were honored by the presence of our Director, Rev. Fr. Pradeep Nishantha; the Estate Manager and staff; the Principal and teachers of Bd/Wewalhinna Tamil Vidyalaya โ€“ Demodara; and the government officers who joined us for this special occasion. A beautiful welcome was given by Bd/Wewalhinna Tamil Vidyalaya โ€“ Demodara, whose band team warmly received our Director and staff.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to making this event a great success and a joyful celebration of community spirit.
