As we wrap up the few remaining projects, there is one story that blew us away.

More than 106 years ago, a man immigrated from Turkey to Beirut, bought a plot of land, built a house for his family and was the first person to bring electricity to the area in Rmeil.

Today, the three-story building is occupied by two sisters who remember their father and family very fondly. They swore to only have one another and never get married after both their siblings passed away following their wedding. They made it clear though, that it never stopped them from having boyfriends!

It is no surprise that they feel very protective of their home - a place that saw birth, death, love, pain, joy, and sorrow. A place that has seen it all from both World Wars to the Golden ages of Beirut to the civil war to the August 4th blast.

Neither the UN nor the army nor anybody else was allowed to assess the devastating damage, but they trusted us and believed in our mission. We are incredibly honoured to be repairing all doors and windows of their home so that these two beautiful women can continue weaving their stories in their safe and protected childhood home.

Phase 1 of the Beirut Annunciation Orthodox College children's playground ( ) complete.

From the economic crisis pandemic to the catastrophic August 4 blast, children in Lebanon saw life as they know it take a devastating turn.

Playgrounds are a space for children to get creative, interact, learn, and grow through play. This project aimed to transform a dreary space into one that is able to transport the students into a world that allows them to suspend their beliefs. Funding this project also meant to give children the room to heal in a feel colourful, comfortable and secure environment.

Six months after the first design meeting, 1,730 square meters of paint is now completed and we move on to Phase 2 - the installation of playground objects such as swings and other 3D interventions.

Please support our fellow NGOs on the ground for Akkar.

A large tank of fuel exploded in Akkar (Lebanon) this morning, killing at least 20 people and injuring at least 79. The disaster occurred in the midst of a severe fuel shortage crisis which has caused long power cuts all across Lebanon, threatening most sectors including healthcare.

In an effort to provide relief for this disaster, Baytna Baytak, Lebanon Needs and Basecamp are launching this fundraiser in order to provide much needed help on the ground.

Please donate through the link in our bio and share it so we can continue providing livelihood support to the already struggling families of Akkar, as well as medical equipment and supplies to help save the lives of those affected by the calamity.
