THURSDAY SOUL DIET 18062026
*THE PROFITABILITY OF*
*INTERDEPENDENCE*

*The* world is fraught with diverse challenges that are inevitable and the needs that are absolutely necessary. It is impossible to be totally free from the essential needs of life in diverse ways. Solomon wrote *A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry: but money answereth all things*. Ecclesiastes 10:19. The rich may have nothing that their riches cannot supply, yet they lack things that the less privileged or the poor people can provide or do for them easily. This situation makes interdependence a necessity in the world today. Dear friend, living an isolated life will hamper good health, progress and fulfillment. Are you striving and sweating all alone to make ends meet, fix the your problems and challenges of life?
*Honestly* speaking there are unavoidable needs in the life of man. These needs can be spiritual, physical, economic, academics, material, social, and financial needs. Consequently in God’s economy, He created man as a social being that needs to interrelate and interdepend with other people around him to survive. It is expected that the rich should stretch forth their hands to the poor and vice visa. The spiritually rich and strong people are expected to lend a helping hand to those who are crawling spiritually. Luke by the Holy Ghost wrote *And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus. [25] This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John. [26] And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly*. Acts 18:24-26. Do you do this to stabilize others spiritually and in other ways of life?
*Unfortunately* some people ignorantly think and believe that they don’t need the help of others in their lives. But it is crystal clear that the rich need the help of a poor driver to drive him, the employers need the cleaners help and vice-visa. The sinners need the help of the believers to open their eyes to what matters throughout eternity. The learners at all levels, are undoubtedly in dire need of tutors and teachers to help them achieve their dreams in life. The poor nations need the help of the rich nations and vice-visa. Joab the general of David’s army had a scenario on the battle field against their enemies. *And he said, If the Syrians be too strong for me, then thou shalt help me: but if the children of Ammon be too strong for thee, then I will come and help thee*. 2 Samuel 10:11. Dear reader, you risk defeat and untimely death, if you fight your battle of life alone
*Records* of the Holy Bible are clear about the necessity of interdependence. The gospel of Luke declared Christ’s dependence upon His disciples. He used Peter’s boat to preach, He also used another man’s c**t for His triumphant entry. He requested for His disciples’ prayers support during His trying times in ministry. *And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him, [2] And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils, [3] And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance*. Luke 8:1-3. These examples doesn’t disregard or disapprove the truth about Christ’s Omnipotence and indispensability. But He demonstrated this to establish the fact that we need each other as it happened to Him in His humanity.
*Since* the beginning of creation, interdependence is made known clearly as seen being demonstrated by God Himself. Abraham mobilized his trained servants to rescue Lot and his family from their captors. He was also called and blessed to fulfill God’s plan and purpose of redemption through his descendants. Jesus didn’t do the preaching of the gospel alone to save the world of sinners. He engaged and delegated His trained disciples to get it actualized. Therefore, it is crystal obvious that as much as I need you, you need me as well to fulfill purpose in life.
*Don’t* proudly and faithlessly discard the power of interdependence in your life. Luke wrote by God’s Spirit about Peter *Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him. [7] And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands*. Acts 12:5,7. From this foregoing there is need for
1. *Partnership* in prayer to silence the devil
2. *Pursuance* of the heavenly goal to fulfill the great commission
3. *Pull* down the stronghold of the devil together to make progress
4. *Promote* the unity of faith like the Israelites did around the Jericho wall and it fell down before them
5. *Participate* in pulling our resources together for a God honouring projects
6. *Praise* God unitedly with others like Israel did for a common goal of defeating the devil
*Activate* your faith in God’s power word and faithfulness and put your confidence in the godly and faithful brethren around you for a fruitful interdependence. The Bible says *But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him*. Hebrews 11:6. Therefore remember always that it was by faith that
1. The Red Sea parted into two before the people of Israel
2. Rehab the harlot didn’t perish with the people of Jericho
3. The ten lepers received their healing as they unitedly marched to the priest in the city
4. David killed Goliath when Saul Abner and the army of Israel cringed in fear and run
5. Daniel went into the lion’s den and came out unhurt
6. The three Hebrews children accepted to be thrown into the fire and they escaped unburnt
*Yokefellows*, to interdepend is highly profitable in all matters. The family, church, community, workplace and the nation stands to benefit greatly if there is godly interdependence among them. But we have to avoid
1. *Falsehood* in all matters, relationship and fellowship
2. *Faithlessness* in thoughts words and actions
3. *Fault* finding and criticism not to breed misunderstanding and feuds
4. *Fear* doubt, unnecessary anxiety and despair
5. *Filthiness* and sin to secure God’s attention and mercy at all times
May God help us to interrelate and unitedly depend upon one another in love, holiness and purity for a wonderful result at all times till the end in Jesus mighty name🙏🙏🙏
*Read digest pray and share*

TOPIC: ON THE MOVE FOR CHRIST

TEXT: ACTS 9:35-43

35 And all that dwelt at Lydda and Saron saw him, and turned to the Lord.
36 Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.
37 And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber.
38 And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them.
39 Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them.
40 But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.
41 And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive.
42 And it was known throughout all Joppa; and many believed in the Lord.
43 And it came to pass, that he tarried many days in Joppa with one Simon a tanner.

KEY VERSE: “And all that dwelt at Lydda and Saron saw him, and turned to the Lord.” - (ACTS 9:35).

English churchman of the 18th Century, John Wesley, travelled over 250,000 miles throughout the British Isles and beyond to deliver the gospel of Christ to multitudes who braved the elements to hear him. They responded to Wesley’s own scant consideration for personal comfort in the quest to fulfil the demand of the great commission. Active till 1791 when he died, the evangelist journeyed largely on horseback in a hectic annual schedule that took him through craggy mountainous regions, valleys, plains and riverine territories.

Several centuries before Wesley, Apostle Peter had demonstrated that obeying Christ’s commandment to tell the world about Him was not a stationary or closet affair. It entailed the strategy of a peripatetic lifestyle. Peter left Jerusalem and “passed throughout all quarters.” He followed in the footsteps of his Master, “who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” The apostle’s trips were packed with stunning outcomes: edification of the saints, healing a bedridden man, bringing back to life a dead woman and leading crowds to Christ.

Reassuringly, the principles of effective evangelism laid down by our Lord that worked for Peter and Wesley are still standing tall and beckoning today’s believers who desire to sn**ch sinners from the path of perdition they are treading. The Lord did not entertain inaction; nor did He brook a monastic lifestyle. He sought fresh ventures to preach in new frontiers. Unafraid of obstacles, Jesus moved from place to place to teach, heal and bring hope to the lost. He knew He had limited time. So He optimised scarce resources.

In our age marked by the closeness of Christ’s Second Coming and the deluge of false doctrines, the Church and genuine followers of Christ must leave their cosy corners and mount aggressive great commission campaigns everywhere. It must be a global blitzkrieg taking place in communities, neighbourhoods and nations over all strata of the media. We must dominate the social sphere with loud proclamation that Christ is the answer to the crisis threatening to devour man.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: We need Christ’s unfailing evangelism fervour to win the lost for heaven.

TOPIC: PRAISE AFTER PERILS

TEXT: 2 SAMUEL 22:45-51

45 Strangers shall submit themselves unto me: as soon as they hear, they shall be obedient unto me.
46 Strangers shall fade away, and they shall be afraid out of their close places.
47 The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and exalted be the God of the rock of my salvation.
48 It is God that avengeth me, and that bringeth down the people under me,
49 And that bringeth me forth from mine enemies: thou also hast lifted me up on high above them that rose up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.
50 Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and I will sing praises unto thy name.
51 He is the tower of salvation for his king: and sheweth mercy to his anointed, unto David, and to his seed for evermore.

KEY VERSE: “The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and exalted be the God of the rock of my salvation.” - (2 Samuel 22:47).

Not many people sufficiently know how to praise God for who He is nor do many offer thanksgiving to Him for all He does. Unknown to them, worship and thanksgiving attract further multi-dimensional blessings from God’s exalted throne of grace and mercy.

Our text today consists of the closing lines of the song of praise that David offered at the end of his life. Running through the song is the unmistakable strong undercurrent of appreciation from the lips of this fallen yet faithful king to the ever-faithful God. In putting the song together, David paraded the exploits, conquests, and victories garnered through God’s providence. Observers might see David more visibly in the larger picture but not the psalmist of Israel. He knew that it was the Lord who made him strong.

He chronicles God’s inexhaustible mercies that subdued his enemies under his footstool, kept his own people well under his leadership, gave him an upper hand over his adversaries, and delivered him from bloodthirsty Saul, mischievous Doeg, ambitious Absalom, malicious Ahitophel, insubordinate Joab and rebellious Shimei. In return for his divine deliverance, David exultantly declares, “Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and I will sing praises unto thy name”. David’s heart had an outburst of praise and thanksgiving for the Lord, who had become his rock, fortress, deliverer, stronghold, refuge, and Saviour. Notably, David’s life, marked by numerous testimonies, was characterised by his unwavering trust in God and absolute submission to His will. As his life failed to an end, he stood tall, looked back and chronicled God’s faithfulness.

Today’s saints are not in any way different from David. Can you also allow the Lord to sit on the throne of your heart as you completely submit to Him in adversity or prosperity, in commendation or condemnation, in peace or war? Can you look back and see how the Lord has been your Saviour and deliverer from the fiendish clutches of sin, your Sanctifier who sets free from the propensity to sin, your peace and Comforter in chaotic times and amid crisis?

We must, like David, let go in joyful, exuberant praise and acknowledge His faithfulness despite our human inadequacies.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Praise to God gets to Him as a precious sweet-smelling offering.

TOPIC: A DANGEROUS MISSTEP

TEXT: GENESIS 34:6-17

6 And Hamor the father of Shechem went out unto Jacob to commune with him.
7 And the sons of Jacob came out of the field when they heard it: and the men were grieved, and they were very wroth, because he had wrought folly in Israel in lying with Jacob's daughter; which thing ought not to be done.
8 And Hamor communed with them, saying, The soul of my son Shechem longeth for your daughter: I pray you give her him to wife.
9 And make ye marriages with us, and give your daughters unto us, and take our daughters unto you.
10 And ye shall dwell with us: and the land shall be before you; dwell and trade ye therein, and get you possessions therein.
11 And Shechem said unto her father and unto her brethren, Let me find grace in your eyes, and what ye shall say unto me I will give.
12 Ask me never so much dowry and gift, and I will give according as ye shall say unto me: but give me the damsel to wife.
13 And the sons of Jacob answered Shechem and Hamor his father deceitfully, and said, because he had defiled Dinah their sister:
14 And they said unto them, We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one that is uncircumcised; for that were a reproach unto us:
15 But in this will we consent unto you: If ye will be as we be, that every male of you be circumcised;
16 Then will we give our daughters unto you, and we will take your daughters to us, and we will dwell with you, and we will become one people.
17 But if ye will not hearken unto us, to be circumcised; then will we take our daughter, and we will be gone.

KEY VERSE: “Then will we give our daughters unto you, and we will take your daughters to us, and we will dwell with you, and we will become one people.” - (GENESIS 34:16).

World Report 2024 indicates that the number of people living in foreign countries has increased three-fold since 1970. This trend has been encouraged by globalisation and uneven regional development. Like Jacob and his family in today’s text, the search for greener pastures has uprooted many people, sometimes with disastrous consequences.

In the text, Jacob’s daughter, Dinah, finds herself in a foreign land. The inquisitive nature of the youth propelled her to explore the land. Sadly, she was ambushed and defiled by Shechem, the son of Hamor, a prince of the Hivites. Hamor quickly proposed a marriage alliance with Israel to redeem the situation. The offer appears attractive enough to appease Jacob: a fat dowry, an opportunity for investments and blending with a prominent Canaanite family. Simeon and Levi, the brothers of Dinah, deceptively prescribed circumcision as a religious ritual to cement the marriage alliance but used it as a tool to revenge their sister’s defilement.

Many families have faced a similar dilemma as Jacob and his children today. Some spinsters and bachelors, born and raised in the church, in their desperation to settle down and raise a family, feel that it is better to marry just anyone rather than remain single for life. There are also those who, in their careless moments, have ended up with an unplanned pregnancy. They are often faced with the dilemma of following Hamor’s face-saving option or obeying God’s commandment on marriage.

However, the scriptural standard remains clear: a Christian should not be unequally yoked with an unbeliever in marriage, time and circumstances notwithstanding. Believers are peculiar people, and marrying unbelievers would erase their distinct identity. And as God warned the children of Israel under Moses, an unequal yoke can lead believers to turn from following God; thereby, provoking His anger. Believers should trust and obey God when choosing a spouse and during the entire marriage process.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Marriages not built on the Rock (Christ) suffer a fall when the wind and flood come.
