When I thought, “My foot slips,” Your steadfast love, O Lord, held me up.
Psalm 94:18
Peter invites us to cast our anxieties on God, because God cares for us. In 1 Peter 5, we are not told to ask for a specific resolution to our worries. We are called to give our anxieties to God, trusting that, because He cares for us, He will resolve them in the right way, at the right time. Possibly not at a time of our choosing and perhaps not in the way that we desire, but He will take care of them in the most loving way possible. For those dealing with anxiety, please remember God works in this broken world through others. When overcome by anxiety, we need the assistance of our neighbor— brothers and sisters in Christ, doctors, counselors, psychiatrists, and pastors—and the set of tools that each has to offer. God gives us these good gifts to help us cast our anxieties on God and trust in His care. Thanks be to God! Jesus loves me and forgives even my doubts, worries, and anxieties. He takes care of all my needs and provides for me in all things.
