We were here . Praise the Lord .Yoido Full Gospel Church, located in Seoul, South Korea, was founded in 1958 by Pastor David Yonggi Cho and Choi Ja-shil. Beginning as a small tent church in a poor district after the Korean War, it started with only a few members. Despite many challenges, including poverty and illness, Cho emphasized faith in the Holy Spirit and the “Threefold Blessing” salvation, physical healing, and prosperity. Through passionate preaching, cell-group ministry, and prayer, the church grew rapidly, attracting thousands of people seeking hope and spiritual renewal in a time of national hardship.
By the 1970s, the church moved to Yoido Island, building the world’s largest church auditorium. Its membership eventually exceeded 900,000, making it the largest Pentecostal congregation globally. Yoido Church became known for its dynamic worship, early morning prayers, and extensive missions work. Even after Pastor Cho’s passing in 2021, the church continues its legacy under new leadership, focusing on prayer, evangelism, and serving communities both in Korea and around the world.
