Living Life Living Life desires to take people through books of the Bible both broadly and deeply.

In Ezekiel 45:9–25, God appears to be teaching basic math to the leaders of His people. He reviews the basic units of measurement that they are to use in their everyday transactions and in their offerings. Why? And what does this have to do with us?

God wants them (and us) to understand that the sincerity of our repentance and of our worship is seen in our care to practice integrity and fairness in the smallest details of everyday life, in our relationship with Him and in our dealings with others.

Notice how this is very similar to how Scripture describes the person who delights in God’s Word (Psalm 1:3). And notice how the water flows from the sanctuary, from God’s presence. This is the kind of life God gives. If you abide in Him and He in you, this is the kind of life you have inside, and this is the kind of life that you should spread.

Praise is simply you telling God the things about Him that stir up awe, wonder, and love inside you—in other words, praise is an expression of your awe and delight before God's glory. And because God's glory never fades, He is always worthy of praise.

See this verse for example: "The faces of the projecting walls were decorated with palm trees" (Ezekiel 40:16). God intentionally carved beautiful things on the walls of His house and He intentionally placed beautiful things around you. Don't pass them by without noticing them!

Many people skip chapters like Ezekiel 40 in their daily Bible reading. It's mostly construction plans so many feel it's "boring" or less relevant to their lives. But when you take time to sit with such passages, they teach you important truths about how God designed worship.

We dare not approach God however we want. If we say we revere God, we must be mindful of how He wants to be approached. Passages like Ezekiel 40 show us what God considers important in our personal and corporate worship.

Most Christians skip passages like Ezekiel 40–46, the passages with the gateways and the porticos and the word “cubit” every few sentences.

They don’t feel very relatable or relevant. And yet here’s how these passages feed our souls: they teach us what God thinks important enough to include in His house of worship. They teach us what God views as important in worship.

"The vision I saw was like the vision I had seen when he came to destroy the city (. . .) and I fell facedown. The glory of the LORD entered the temple through the gate facing east. Then the Spirit lifted me up and brought me into the inner court, and the glory of the LORD filled the temple." – Ezekiel 43:3–5

Ezekiel once saw God's presence in all its holy glory coming to destroy the city. Now, he is seeing that same presence return in fellowship: God is coming to dwell among His people forever.
