안녕하세요
'해적'이라면 익히 들어서 알지만, 한때 아일랜드 해적이 있었고, 이 해적들이 영국 해안에서 한 소년을 납치한 줄은 모르셨을 수도 있습니다. 소년의 이름은 패트릭(Patrick : Saint Patricius 387-461 추정)이었습니다. 소년은 노예로 팔려 아일랜드로 보내졌고, 언덕을 오가며 양을 돌보았습니다. 아일랜드는 이교도 국가였습니다. 패트릭은 결국 탈출했고 마침내 사제가 되었습니다. 그러나 마음 속에서는, 복음을 전파하러 돌아오라는 아일랜드 사람들의 목소리가 계속 들렸습니다. 그는 로마로 갔고 거기에서 주교품에 서임됩니다. 성 아우구스티누스의 친구인 교황 성 첼레스티노 1세(Coelestinus I, 7월 27일)는 그를, 복음을 전하기 위한 수도자 단체와 함께 아일랜드로 다시 파견합니다(432년경).
패트릭 주교가 어느날 聖삼위에 대한 강론을 하고 있었는데, 그의 옆에 펼쳐진 풀밭에서 작은 초록색 식물을 보았습니다. 그것은 토끼풀이었습니다. 그는 그것을 집어들고 설명했습니다.
"이 작은 식물에는, 줄기 하나에 잎이 세 개 있습니다. 거룩하신 삼위일체 안에는 한 하느님과 세 위격, 즉 성부, 성자, 성령이 있습니다."
오늘 우리는 거룩하신 삼위일체 대축일을 기념하고 있는데요, 과연 거룩하신 삼위일체의 신비가 개인적으로 나와 어떤 관련이 있는지 스스로에게 물어볼 수 있습니다. 예수님께서는 "성부, 성자, 성령이 우리 마음에 손님으로 사신다"고 말씀하십니다.
우리는 성삼위께 말할 수 있고 성삼위의 말씀을 들을 수 있습니다. 슬픈 순간에 성삼위께 의지하고 행복한 순간을 성삼위와 함께 기뻐할 수 있습니다. 항상 어쩌면 매일매일 우리에게 필요한 지혜와 힘을 얻을 수 있다고 믿습니다. 우리는 십자가의 성호를 긋습니다. 이는 우리 마음 속에 모신 특별한 손님 성부, 성자, 성령을 을 기억하는 아주 특별한 방법입니다.

Hello everybody.
We have heard of pirates and perhaps we did not know that there were once Irish Pirates and these Pirates kidnapped a young boy on the British coast.
His name was *Patrick*. He was brought to Ireland sold as a slave and he looked after the sheep on the hills. Ireland was a Pagan country. Patrick finally escaped and eventually became a priest. But in his heart he kept hearing the voices of the Irish people calling him back to preach the Gospel.
Patrick went to Rome, there he was consecrated bishop. Pope Celestine the first who was a friend of St.Augustine sent Patrick back to Ireland with the group of monks to preach the Gospel.
One day he was preaching about the Blessed Trinity and then he saw a little green plant in the field beside him. It was a shamrock. He picked it up and explained.
"In this little plant we have one stem and three leaves. In the Blessed Trinity we have one God and three Persons the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit."
Today we are celebrating the Feast of the Blessed Trinity but we could ask ourselves what has the mystery of the Blessed Trinity to do with me personally. Jesus tells us that the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit live in our hearts as guests.
We can speak to them and listen to them. We can rely on them in moments of sadness. We can rejoice with them in moments of happiness. We can always count on them for the wisdom and the strength that we need, very often perhaps everyday. We make the sign of the Cross. It is very special way of remembering the special guests that we have in our hearts the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

The Blessed Trinity is indeed a mystery, but Fr Vincent tells us that is doesn't have to be too mysterious.
