As we reach the end of another year, the Islamic Center of Daejeon (ICD) wishes to announce that the sacred month of Muharram and the Islamic New Year will officially begin tomorrow:

Let’s renew our intentions, lift each other up, and bring ourselves closer to the Divine through kindness, prayer, and community.

Please keep these upcoming dates in mind for your worship and planning:
1st of Muharram (New Year's Day): Tomorrow, Wednesday, 17 June
Tasua (9th of Muharram): Thursday, 25 June
Day of Ashura (10th of Muharram): Friday, 26 June

Sunnah Reminder: Fasting on the Day of Ashura (along with the 9th or 11th) is a beautiful tradition that cleanses the sins of the past year. Let's try to revive this practice together.

Eid Adha Mubarak! ICD warmly invites you to join the Eid prayer on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, at ICD Masjid, 106-6 Eoeun-dong, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon. Brothers will pray on the 1st–5th floors, and sisters in the basement. There will be two sessions: 1st session at 6:45 AM and 2nd session at 8:00 AM. Khatib: Dr. Ehsanullah.

Please note that ICD parking slots will be unavailable during the Eid prayer. Kindly use nearby public parking areas:

🌙✨ 9th Dhul Hijjah – The Blessed Day of ‘Arafah ✨🌙

Dear brothers and sisters,

Tomorrow is the beautiful Day of ‘Arafah — a day filled with Allah’s mercy, forgiveness, and countless opportunities to make heartfelt duas. It is one of the most special days of the year, a time to turn sincerely to Allah and seek His blessings.

📖 Allah says:

“Today I have perfected for you your religion, completed My favor upon you, and have approved for you Islam as your religion.”— (Surah Al-Mā’idah 5:3)

📚 The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Fasting on the Day of ‘Arafah expiates the sins of the previous year and the coming year.”— Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim

And the Prophet ﷺ also said:

“The best supplication is the supplication of the Day of ‘Arafah.”— Jāmiʿ al-Tirmidhī

🌿 The righteous people before us would eagerly await this blessed day, spending their time in dhikr, Qur’an recitation, sincere dua, and tears of hope for Allah’s mercy and forgiveness.

🤲 Among the beautiful duas to recite on this day:

Lā ilāha illallāhu waḥdahu lā sharīka lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-ḥamdu wa huwa ʿalā kulli shay’in qadīr.

“There is no god worthy of worship except Allah alone without partner. To Him belongs all dominion and praise, and He is over all things capable.”

🌸 Let us make the most of this blessed day through:• Fasting• Takbeer & Dhikr• Qur’an recitation• Sincere repentance• Dua for ourselves, our families, and the entire Ummah

🤲 May Allah accept our worship, forgive our shortcomings, and include us among those freed from the Hellfire on the Day of ‘Arafah. Ameen.

[Announcement - Moon Sighting of Dzulhijjah]

Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,

Dear respected brothers and sisters,

Based on the moon-sighting announcement from KMF, it has been confirmed that the 1st of Dzulhijjah begins tonight after Maghrib. Accordingly, Eid al-Adha will be on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, in shaa Allah.

The first ten days of Dzulhijjah are among the greatest and most blessed days of the year. Allah ﷻ says:

“By the dawn, and by the ten nights.”
Surah Al-Fajr 89:1–2

Many scholars explain that “the ten nights” refer to the first ten days of Dzulhijjah. The Prophet ﷺ also said:

“There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days.”
The companions asked, “Not even jihad for the sake of Allah?” He ﷺ replied, “Not even jihad for the sake of Allah, except for a man who goes out with himself and his wealth and returns with nothing.”
Narrated by Al-Bukhari

Therefore, we encourage everyone to make the most of these blessed days by increasing in good deeds, such as fasting, giving charity, reciting the Qur’an, making dhikr, seeking forgiveness, making du’a, and helping others. It is especially recommended to fast during the first nine days, particularly the Day of Arafah, as the Prophet ﷺ said:

“Fasting on the Day of Arafah expiates the sins of the previous year and the coming year.”

Let us welcome these blessed days with sincere hearts and strive to gain the mercy and pleasure of Allah ﷻ through righteous actions.

May Allah accept our deeds, forgive our shortcomings, and allow us to benefit from the blessings of Dzulhijjah.

Reminder Regarding Hair & Nails Before Qurbani

If you intend to offer Qurbani this year, then after the moon of Dhul-Hijjah is sighted, avoid cutting your hair and nails until your sacrifice is completed.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“When you see the moon of Dhul-Hijjah and one of you intends to offer a sacrifice, then let him not cut anything from his hair or nails until he has offered the sacrifice.”— Sahih Muslim

Wisdom Behind This Sunnah:

The scholars mention several wisdoms behind this practice:

• It creates a spiritual resemblance with the pilgrims of Hajj who are in the state of Ihram.• It increases a person’s connection to the sacred days of Dhul-Hijjah.• It is a complete act of submission and obedience to the command of Allah and His Messenger ﷺ.• Some scholars also mentioned that every part of the body is hoped to be freed from the Fire through the blessed sacrifice.

Even though refraining from cutting hair and nails is not obligatory according to many scholars, it is a highly recommended Sunnah that every Muslim intending Qurbani should try to follow.

Please be very careful these days. There are many scams happening, especially targeting foreigners.

Just a humble reminder:

* Please don’t share your bank account or personal information with anyone.
* Don’t trust unknown people asking for money or offering easy jobs.
* Be careful before making any transaction.
* Avoid “quick cash” or delivery-type jobs — many of these are illegal.

These situations can become serious and may even affect your visa status.

If something feels strange or suspicious, it’s better to stop and double-check.

📞 In case of any problem, you can call 112 (police) — they provide help in different languages.
