Title: Intimacy with God
Romans 8:14–17 Romans
Intimacy means having a close, familiar, loving relationship marked by trust, openness, and nearness.
That is exactly the kind of relationship God wants with us.
In Romans 8, Paul the Apostle reminds believers that life with God is no longer about fear, guilt, or trying to earn His love.
It is about being led by the Spirit.
It is about sonship.
It is about being able to cry, “Abba, Father.”
Some of us still relate to God like slaves.
A slave asks, “What do I have to do?”
A son asks, “How do I stay close to my Father?”
That difference changes everything.
Sometimes we think doing more “Christian things” automatically makes God happy.
But what pleases the Father is not performance.
It is relationship.
He wants us to live in such a way that people can see He is not only our Lord, but also our Father and closest friend.
So how is your relationship with God today?
Whatever your current condition is, God desires something deeper, closer, and more meaningful with you.
What intimacy with God looks like:
1. Spirit-led surrender:
Choosing God’s direction over your own every day.
2. Intimate prayer:
Coming to Him as Father, not just authority.
Being honest.
Talking to Him naturally.
Trusting Him.
3. Identity meditation:
Reminding yourself who you are in Christ.
From our discipleship training, remember:
New Relationship
New Experience
Eternal Life
This is what fights the slave mindset Paul the Apostle talked about.
And intimacy is never separated from obedience.
In Luke 6:46, Jesus said:
“Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?”
Real intimacy with God is not just feeling close to Him.
It is walking with Him daily.
Listening to Him.
Trusting Him.
Obeying Him.
The goal is not just to know about God.
The goal is to know Him deeply.
