The launch of the ACK St. Mark's Church Westlands Strategic Plan (2026–2030) was marked by a powerful and inspiring sermon from His Lord Bishop, Rt. Rev. Jonathan Kabiru of ACK Diocese of Nairobi, who drew from the story of Nehemiah and the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem (Nehemiah 2:11–20). He reminded the congregation that while developing a strategic plan is a significant milestone, its true value lies in faithful implementation. Just as Nehemiah stepped out of his comfort zone to inspect the broken walls and respond to God's call, every believer is challenged to take bold steps of faith, move beyond good intentions, and actively participate in fulfilling God's vision. The Bishop encouraged the church to continually evaluate where it has come from, where it stands today, and where God is leading it, trusting that the Lord provides both the burden and the blueprint for every vision He gives.
The Bishop further emphasized that God's vision is never self-centred but is always intended to transform communities and glorify Him. Calling on every member to embrace the new strategic plan, he stressed that the responsibility of advancing God's Kingdom belongs to the whole Church, not just its clergy or leadership. He urged the congregation to work in unity, serve with humility, and pursue a shared purpose, knowing that God blesses collective effort and faithful stewardship. Acknowledging that every God-given vision will face criticism, opposition, and challenges, he encouraged believers to remain steadfast, declaring with confidence, "The God of heaven will give us success."
As ACK St. Mark's Church Westlands embarks on its 2026–2030 journey under the leadership of the Westlands Archdeacon and Vicar, Canon Isaac Gathira, and with the support of the Diocese of Nairobi, the congregation was challenged to remain focused, courageous, and committed to seeing God's purposes accomplished for His glory.
