Week 1 Begins!

The journey starts here.

For the next seven days, we'll take one step at a time as we read through the Bible together. Don't be intimidated by the size of the Bible. Just focus on today's reading. Tomorrow will take care of itself.

Set aside a few minutes each day. Read prayerfully, take notes, ask questions, and allow God to speak through His Word.

READ THE BIBLE. COVER TO COVER.

Have you ever desired to read the entire Bible but didn't know where to begin or struggled to stay consistent?

This is your invitation.

Beginning July 2026, we're embarking on a 4-month journey through the entire Bible, reading 10 chapters a day from Genesis to Revelation.

This isn't about racing through the pages. It's about cultivating a daily habit of meeting with God through His Word. One chapter at a time. One day at a time. Together.

As the Bereans did, let us search the Scriptures diligently, allowing God's Word to shape our minds, strengthen our faith, and transform our lives.

There is a subtle but dangerous habit many of us have — we read the Bible looking for verses that confirm what we already believe or want. We find the comfort passages when we need comfort and quietly skip the confronting ones. But Hebrews 4:12 tells us the Word judges us — not the other way around. Good interpretation means letting the text say what it actually says, even when it inconveniences you. Especially then.

This week, read one passage that makes you uncomfortable and sit with it instead of explaining it away. That discomfort is the Word doing its sharpest work.

2 Timothy 2:15 says, "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth."

Correctly handling the Word is a skill: it requires effort, humility, and method. Every book of the Bible was written in a specific time, to a specific people, in a specific culture. When you understand that context, the meaning for your life becomes sharper, not narrower.

This week, before you apply a scripture to your situation, ask: who wrote this, to whom, and why? That question alone will transform how you read.

A simple meetup at Uhuru Park turned into a meaningful reminder:

Community doesn't happen by accident. It is built intentionally, one conversation, one friendship, and one shared moment at a time.

As we reflected on where Camp Luap is headed, we felt the need to create more space for genuine connection beyond our online interactions. Life is better when we do it together.

So we've decided to make our physical meetups a regular rhythm, happening every two months.

This was the beginning. August is next.

Acts 2:42–47 gives us the most vivid picture of the early Christian community; they devoted themselves to teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayer. They met in the Temple courts and in homes. They shared meals. They shared resources. They shared joy.

The word "fellowship" in Greek is koinonia; it means participation, contribution, sharing in common. It is not sitting in the same room once a week. It is being genuinely known, genuinely needed, and genuinely present in each other's lives.

This week, move one relationship from attendance to participation.

You cannot fully know yourself alone. You need community to show you the parts of yourself that only show up in relationships.

Iron does not sharpen itself. It requires friction, contact, and another piece of iron. The parts of your character that need the most work: your patience, your generosity, your forgiveness - will never be developed in isolation. They only develop in the presence of other people who test them.

Fellowship is not a social event. It is a formation environment. Who is sharpening you this season, and are you showing up for the friction?

The tax collector in Luke 18 would not even lift his eyes to heaven. He said, "God, have mercy on me, a sinner." Seven words. No eloquence, no structure, no impressive vocabulary.

And Jesus said that the man went home justified, not the Pharisee with the polished prayer. God is not moved by how your prayer sounds. He is moved by whether it is real.

This week, try praying the prayer you have been too afraid, too ashamed, or too proud to say. That is the one that changes things.

We often treat prayer like a negotiation, trying to change God's mind with enough volume or persistence.

Matthew 6:8 says, "Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him."

Then why pray? Because prayer changes the one praying. It aligns your heart with God's. It opens your hands. It moves you from the driver's seat to the passenger seat, and that is exactly where miracles happen.

This week, shift your prayers from "God do this" to "God, align me with what you are already doing."

Notice it says lamp, not floodlight. It illuminates the next step, not the whole journey. This is why you need it daily, not occasionally. The light is given one step at a time so that you stay close to the source.
