Siri Gurdwara Thika

Siri Gurdwara Thika Siri Gurdwara Thika was established in 1934 by Sub-Inspector Sardar Banta Singh. Siri Gurdwara Thika underwent a major renovation in 1989.

The Sikh community in Thika formed a committee in 1930 to establish a Gurdwara Sahib in Thika town. The purpose of the Gurdwara was to be a place where the community can come to learn spiritual wisdom, practice religious ceremonies and learn more about the principles of Sikhism such as ethics, customs, traditions, language and scripts. The foundation of the Gurdwara was laid on 10th February 1935

by the elected committee Chairman, Sub-Inspector Banta Singh. in 2016, the first phase of another major renovation commenced.

On 27th May 2026, the Sikh Sangat from Nairobi respectfully brought back the Saroops of Siri Guru Granth Sahib Ji which had been taken to Makindu Sikh Temple for restoration seva.

Sangat from Siri Gurdwara Ramgarhia Railway, Nairobi joined S. Parminder Singh Sandhu in escorting Guru Maharaj Saroops to Siri Gurdwara Sahib Thika with full maryada and respect.
Through the dedicated efforts of S. Parminder Singh Sandhu and the Jatha at Gurdwara Sahib Makindu, more than 80 Saroops have been beautifully restored through seva.

The Sangat of Siri Gurdwara Sahib Thika warmly welcomed and received the Saroops with devotion, love, and great respect.
We humbly thank all the Sewadars and Sangat members who participated in this seva with dedication and love for Guru Sahib.

May Baba Ji bless all the Sewadars with chardi kala and continue blessing them with more opportunities to serve the Panth in the future.🙏

A General Medical Camp and Eye Check-up Camp was successfully organised by Siri Gurdwara Sahib Thika at Joy Town Secondary School in collaboration with Dawa Life Sciences Ramgharia Youth Association(RYA), Thika Nursing Hospital, Lions Sightfirst Eye Hospital

During the camp, nearly 800 special needs students and 50 staff members received general medical and eye check-ups. RYA also supported the event by providing hot meals for over 1,000 people.

As part of the initiative, Siri Gurdwara Sahib Thika donated 800 stationery packs for the students’ use and support in their education.

The Management Committee sincerely thanks all the sponsors, donors, volunteers, and participating organisations for their generous support and contribution towards making this camp a great success.

Greening Our Schools Initiative – Joy Town Secondary School 🌱
Siri Gurdwara Sahib Thika, in collaboration with Dawa Life Sciences carried out a tree planting activity at Joy Town Secondary School.
A total of 400 trees and 200 bougainvillea vines were planted, promoting a greener environment. Snacks were also distributed to students and volunteers.
The initiative reflected the spirit of sewa and Sarbat da Bhala. We thank all sewadars and supporters for making it a success. 🌿
