Holy Saturday (Dark Saturday) Reflection

It’s called “Dark Saturday” because it represents a time of silence, mourning, and uncertainty between the sorrow of Good Friday and the joy of Easter Sunday. Holy Saturday sits in a quiet, in-between space—a day of waiting, uncertainty, and silence. After the sorrow of Good Friday, everything seems still.

On this day, Jesus lies in the tomb, and there is no visible action—no miracles, no teaching, no clear hope yet revealed. For his followers, it felt like a moment of darkness, where grief and confusion overshadowed everything they had believed in. The disciples are left with grief, confusion, and fear, unsure of what comes next. It is a day that feels empty, where hope seems distant and answers are not yet clear.

That’s why the day carries a quiet, somber tone, reminding us of those times in life when we are waiting in uncertainty, before light and hope return.

This day speaks to the moments in our own lives when we feel stuck between loss and restoration, when we are waiting for clarity, healing, or change. It reminds us that not all important things happen in visible ways—sometimes growth and renewal take place in silence.

Holy Saturday teaches patience and trust. Even when nothing seems to be happening, something is unfolding beneath the surface. It encourages us to remain faithful in the waiting, holding on to hope, knowing that darkness is not the end of the story.

The enemy will never ever stop screaming at you how worthless you are, to give up, to stop trusting the Lord and will point to your pain and disappointment. don’t argue with a liar, fight him before a God that will have your back. remind yourself in worship, who it is that fights your battles. Declare all he is able to do. Don’t wait, get low and lift him high !!

Stillness is not weakness.
It is trust.
God is not telling us to stop caring — He is calling us to stop striving in our own strength. When fear is loud, the Lord calls His people to quiet confidence, reminding us that He remains sovereign, unshaken, and in control.
This verse is not about escape from trouble, but peace within it. When we are still before Him, we acknowledge that He is God — over nations, over storms, and over our lives.
Rest today in this truth:
God does not lose authority when the world feels unstable.

In the same way, the challenges you face are not always sent to stop you but to shape and promote you. Giants reveal your faith, courage, and dependence on God. What feels intimidating today may be the very thing God uses to move you forward. Your battle can become your testimony when you face it with trust in Him.

Ruth didn’t go back. She could’ve. She had every reason to. It would’ve been easier. Familiar. Comfortable. But she refused to return to the place she had already outgrown. Ruth chose obedience over comfort. She trusted God enough to walk into a land she had never seen before, with no guarantee except His presence. And God met her right in the middle of her obedience. On the other side of obedience is everything you prayed for.
