Is there anything you are keeping hidden or secret from your family and friends? Why? When we sin or do evil, we try to keep it hidden because we know it is wrong and we are ashamed. In this way, darkness avoids the light for fear of being seen. Because God is holy, no sin can be hidden from him. All sin will be exposed. If you have sinned and are hiding, confess and repent! Live in the way that you are not afraid to be in the light!

If you are feeling far from God, thank him. Acknowledge his creation and all the many blessings in your life. Reflect on all he has done. Think about how all the ways he blessed those before you for generations and how he still knows your name. When you begin to have an attitude of constant thankfulness and prayer, you will feel yourself moving closer to God. Throughout the day, thank God in your prayers.

It is folly for men to believe that they may overcome their nature. Today there is the talk of genetic modifications to plants and humans, to build ever more expensive missions into space. These aren't inherent sins, but there is a danger that what animates this search to overcome ourselves and our boundaries is arrogance. We must make sure that with advances, it is done with trust in Gods' overall design. No matter what we can claim to create or claim here on earth, our best will always be second to God.

The abhorrence God shows towards certain things is worth taking note of. It may surprise non-believers to discover that 'hate' is used very rarely in the Bible when it comes to God, since it is evident He is much more a loving and merciful Father to us. The only things God truly hates are those sins that may take His children from him, the sins of pride or arrogance, evil deeds and the lies that both create the climate to commit the former acts, and helps sustain them.
