On the bright and cold morning of last Saturday (18/04/2026), the dedicated officials of CWA, from the kiserian deanery, gathered in our parish (St. Ignatius Catholic Parish-Olekasasi) with an important agenda: to meticulously plan the activities and events that would take place in the year 2026. This occasion was not merely a routine meeting; it represented a joyful and significant moment for the nine parishes that make up our deanery, as it fostered a sense of unity and common purpose among all the CWA officials. During the course of the meeting, the able officials engaged in heartfelt discussions revolving around topics such as their annual registration and the various formations that would be implemented across the different parishes. With a shared vision to enhance communion, participation and mission, the primary resolution that emerged from these discussions was focused on developing strategies to empower and strengthen the group, ensuring that they would become increasingly active in the deanery and involved within the diocesan activities.

This day emphasizes the vital and special role of priests in the life of the Church. Through the Holy Orders sacrament, priests are united with Christ, the eternal High Priest, and tasked with fulfilling His mission on earth. A primary responsibility is celebrating the Eucharist, which is regarded as the source and culmination of Christian life. Each Mass reenacts Christ's sacrifice, allowing the faithful to receive His Body and Blood through the priest. Consequently, Holy Thursday highlights the essential link between the Eucharist and priesthood. Holy Thursday also underlines humility and service. During the liturgy, the priest reenacts Jesus washing His disciples' feet, a powerful symbol of servant leadership. This act reminds both clergy and laity that true greatness in the Church is demonstrated through love, sacrifice, and selfless service.
Holy Thursday holds profound significance in Catholic tradition because it commemorates the institution of the Eucharist and the priesthood. Under the title “Priests’ Day,” the Church honors priests' crucial role and encourages the faithful to reflect on their importance, pray for them, and appreciate their dedication to serving the community in imitation of Christ.
