The New Church building looks beautiful, inside and outside - heartfelt gratitude goes to all those who have been part of the mjengo in cash or kind. However, there is still work to be done as regards the interior polishing e.g. painting, new seats, PA system, and also roofing and interior furnishing of one wing which will serve as the office.
In this regard, the church is open to support through personal or group contributions. For more information, you may call this number 0722 845 631 (Gitahi).

The need to expand the church building arose out of the growing number of members. The expansion work started towards end of year 2013, spearheaded by the late Mr Karuri jointly with the Church Development Committee. The old small church remained "inside" while expansion work progressed around it. Much of the work has so far been accomplished through the spirit of harambee/communal work, where members contribute in cash and kind, including digging the foundation, demolishing the old building amongst other tasks. Along the way, there have also been two very successful funds drives.

The work accomplished so far is:
1. Demolition of the old church
2. Roofing using iron trusses and iron sheets
3. Installation of windows and metal doors
4. White-washing the inner church wall
5. Preparation of the floor ready for tiling
6. Construction of the vestry
7. Electrical wiring is partly done, but there is light in the critical areas, and power for sound system.

To date, about 3 million Kenya shillings have been spent.

The work remaining includes:
1. Tiling the floor
2. Completing the office/committee room
3. Keying the outside stone wall
4. Gutters and tanks for water harvesting
5. Painting the inner church walls
6. Concrete belt around the church to prevent soiling
7. Paving the path from the vestry to the main church entrance, and also a roof for the same
8. Putting new seats
9. Completion of the wiring and upgrading the sound system
10. Final touches

A funds drive is scheduled for Sunday July 7, 2019 where the target is to raise Ksh. 2.5 million. Please join in and be part of the success story. You are much appreciated and we pray that you remain blessed.

On a very sad note, the church building/development committee treasurer, Mrs Rahab Maina, went to be with the Lord on Sunday Feb 22, 2015. She was a most dedicated servant of the Lord and a formidable pillar at Thumuru PCEA church. She will be sorely missed. May our good Lord comfort her family and rest her soul in eternal peace. The funeral is scheduled for Saturday Feb 28, 2015.

Thumuru PCEA Church wishes to very heartily thank all who participated in the harambee on Feb 8. It was a grand get-together of Thumuru fraternity, dating back to the 1970s and 1980s. A big gratitude too to all the guests and friends who participated. Let's keep together in God's service.

The long-awaited harambee for the church expansion project finally happened on Sunday Feb 8, 2015. And what a success it was! A whooping 1.05 million shillings was raised that day, a figure that had not previously been achieved in any event in Huho-ini Parish!

At Thumuru PCEA, we do not just nurture the children spiritually, we also expose them to different environments for the sake of all-round growth. On Saturday August 24, 2013, the children, accompanied by their Sunday School teachers and patron, had a very exciting visit to Nanyuki, including a tour of the Ol Pejeta Conservancy. It was not only exciting but quite educative too. Such tours will no doubt become part and parcel of Thumuru PCEA Sunday School.

Due to congregational growth, it has become important to expand the current church building. This project was spearheaded by the late Mr. Karuri (Baba Mbutu) until he was promoted to heavenly glory in mid-2014. It is then paramount to complete this project not just in honour of the late Mr. Karuri but to the Glory of God. To this end, a major fund-raising is planned for Sunday February 8, 2015 after the church service. This will also be a day to celebrate Thumuru, as old and new friends meet and fellowship together while walking down memory lane. Invite a friend and...do not even think of missing out!

Thumuru PCEA men once again gathered on Saturday October 18, 2014 for a goat-eating ceremony at the church grounds, as part of fellowship and discussing their welfare and church projects. This was the third goat-eating ceremony the men were having, and there will definitely be others lined up in the near future.
